Bitter cold better than occasional hurricanes

I am in the midst of extreme cold like 30 below zero and having lived in Louisiana I have to say that bitter cold and this type of cold is better than hurricanes. Sure Hurricanes don't happen as frequently, but your homes, schools, and business and hospitals don't get destroyed during an arctic blast.
Believe me Andrews and Katrina are much, much worse than this cold.

Going for ice cream, then getting banged all weekend by an OT 7 that was born without a uterus is better than hurricanes or bitter cold weather.

I’m in south Louisiana and I can’t tell you the last time a hurricane has affected my life.
And if it did I’d just leave until things went back to normal...usually a few days

These two things don't really compare.
Now if you wanted to say that bitter cold is better than oppressive heat, that would make sense.
Or if you wanted to say that nor'easters are better than hurricanes, that would also work.

Yeah it is an odd comparison.
I've had 2 hurricanes impact my life in 38 years in LA. Katrina (influx of people) and Gustav (minor damage and no power for 8 days).
Otherwise they are usually just an excuse to stay home and drink in this area.
