On June 23, the Birmingham City Council will vote on a resolution to rename part of Sixteenth Street North “Black Lives Matter Boulevard.”
The resolution, if approved, would seek action to rename Sixteenth Street North from First Avenue North to Sixth Avenue North “Black Lives Matter Boulevard.” Council officials said the renaming is a way to honor the Black Lives Matter movement and Birmingham’s history of civil rights activism.

Has anyone thought to tell folks that what you call something doesn't make a damn bit of difference? Neither a box of pancake mix nor a road sign has ever committed a crime or shot an unarmed person.

Well this particular part of downtown isn't so bad, so I doubt it will happen. But you have to shake your head at this. African Americans are killing each other day in and day out in Birmingham. Over the last couple of years there have been some really sad cases where kids were caught in the crossfire and killed. Through all this, the mayor was nowhere to be found. Now, the George Floyd incident warrants this?

How many black cops have been murdered since Woodfin took office? He is the CEO of the police dept and is turning his back on them to support a group that wants to defund them.

The BLM ‘mural’ just went up a block away from my apartment. This comes about 2 weeks after our complex’s first floor got wrecked by the ‘protestors’ incited by funnymaine. Our move to the burbs next week can’t come fast enough
