I feel like centenary in Shreveport will do this
there quite a few in NOLA that need to close as well... the roster of community colleges need to be rolled back as well, and basic entrance requirements need to be tightened up....
not everyone NEEDS nor SHOULD to go to college...

I'm a commercial/industrial roofer in B'ham and years ago our company quoted a few buildings on BSC campus and reroofed a few as well. At the time we were working directly with BSC's Plant Operations/Maintenance guy. He'd approve the work, send us a PO, and we'd start planning the job. Then at some point BSC decided they would hire Aramark to come in and handle those type of projects for BSC. It never made sense that they would basically pay someone to be Plant Ops Director AND pay Aramark to award projects. There were no discounts to Aramark, no group purchasing type deals either. Those clowns were throwing money away unnecessarily. Hiring Aramark did not make anything more efficient or less costly.

Samford is a bible beating Baptist school. Birmingham Southern produced normal people.
Interesting. Your first sentence would suggest Samford is normal, but somehow you came to the wrong conclusion.

Think "over-educated fast food worker."

And here I thought you were going to say as roofing contractor in the area the number of leaks due to “lead rain” from the surrounding constituents was amazing

Research Berry College and get back to me. Largest college campus in the country.

I have said it for 2 decades….Louisiana needs these only:
Louisiana State University
University of Louisiana Lafayette
Louisiana Tech University
University of New Orleans
Give LSU 75% of the funding and give the rest to the other 3.
LSU must have more funding or it will fall further and further down the ratings.
I know it is tough to hear for schools and communities like gambling, northwestern, Hammond, etc…..but if LSU is to survive, much less thrive , it has to be done.

It’s a broken model propped up by student loans.
Yep. 80% of students get financial aid. Student loans and Pell Grants drive the cost through the roof and artificially high. Universities can basically charge any amount because nobody is paying for it and they never plan on paying the loans back. This is so “every person” can have the opportunity to go to college. It’s bs. Not everybody needs to go to college. The world needs plumbers too. Just look at the shortage of housing in mist major university towns. That tells you too many students are being admitted. We need to adopt the European way. Only the smartest and best go to university. The rest go to trade school.

Many more colleges need to go under unless they can reign in costs.
The costs are directly tied to student expectations of amenities (not instruction). A lot of folks don't understand this about higher ed.

Birmingham Southern was associated with the Methodist Church. You can see how well that worked out for both of them.

You need at minimum one DEI position for every 10 students to minimize the far reaching effects of institutional racism.

It was going to happen sooner or later. Financial mismanagement, location in a high crime area, and the difficulty getting a good job with a liberal arts degree were major contributors to the closure of BSC.

Samford is doing pretty well financially...

I visited Sewanee and it’s seriously the coolest place on earth. If they go under it’s because they are trying to appeal to shitlibs too much and the alumni might get sick of it eventually.

I would much prefer dicking around the forests around Sewanee than fricking Birmingham.
