We know why UBL never got to his weapon.

He made eye contact with this ginger seal and got lost in the abyss. The rest is history.

Are they typically younger than other SF guys? Do SEALs have to do active duty "boots on the ground" type stuff before becoming a full SEAL?

I believe that a lot of the Delta and SAS guys are planted within other, less experienced ground units like army and Marines. Is that true? Maybe they want to let the young guys take all of the credit and are just there in a support role?

It is just weird that you see seals all over TV, and the rare times you see Delta guys, their faces are either blurred or blacked out. Only guy that is "out there" is Larry Vickers, and he hasn't ever given any specifics about what he did

Once you are done with school and receive your Trident, you are essentially a SEAL..From there you will become a "more specialized" operator

Eric Haney has been the most vocal, and he's taken hits for it. He wrote "Inside Delta Force" which was also the basis for the show "The Unit."

My best guess is that regular SEALs tend to be more direct action (? I don't know how else to phrase it) oriented, while Army SF is more likely to embed and handle unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, etc. Not to say they can't or don't do it, but there have been a lot of publications in the last 5 years or so talking about how that should be the true role of SF. So my thought would be that Army SF is a little more "subtle" by nature.

But, that's different from DEVGRU and Delta, which by my limited understanding largely overlap with the exception of purely maritime stuff (Somali hostage rescue) which obviously seems to be in DEVGRU's wheelhouse.

There has to be more to this, someone is behind it. Clearly there's a lot more that goes on in the Seals than we will ever know about. I'm sure quite a few have been pushed out and pissed off, causing them to not care and speak out.
What we do know is that this Seal team carried out some major missions that were highly publicized. We also know some shady shite went down in a helicopter crash killing I believe 22 members of Seal team 6.
If you read up on that, there's a lot of reports from family members stating that the ones they lost told them something was going down. Accounts of these men updating or creating a will because something was happening. They knew they were being setup.
I'm especially curious to hear what this guy has to say about that incident.

SF embeds with foreign guerrilla or military units and lives, trains, and fights with them. SEALS just do direct action for the most part.

IMO army SF has a much more difficult and dangerous mission requiring a smarter and much more experienced soldier.

What kind of shady shite? Family members said their SEAL contacted them and said "something was going down"? If you're a DEVGRU operator, isn't something ALWAYS going down?

Nobody in the service goes into theatre without a current will.

did he himself leak the information? doesnt seem like a seal thing to do
That seems like a very seal thing to do actually. Delta and Green Berets are the only ones that keep quiet these days. Green Berets kill people and then take a nap, seals kill people then write a book. They are still badass Americans though

Recently met a guy that I work with now that was 27 years CIA. Spent most of his time in the jungles of Central America. Want to talk about some fricked up stuff that we did under Reagan. Guy is certified bat shite crazy. If you walked into a room you would never pick him out as the guy doing some of the shite we did down there with all the arms deals.

Your new acquaintance is in violation of his confidentiality agreement and/or completely full of shite.

You may want to keep your distance. If he isn't full of shite, you don't want to become collateral damage during his impending "accident".

One of my clients was a green beret, like a little 5'8" guy. Over lunch one day I said i think I could take you one on one. He said absolutely you could, but I would kill you in your sleep the night before the fight. I laughed

I agree. I wonder what the special ops community feel about it.

I listen to a Spec Ops podcast and the guys on there were saying that the guy who is claiming to be the shooter isn't the actual shooter. Or that he may have shot Bin Laden but it wasn't the kill shot.

That didn't work out too well for Iron Man.
