Who doesn't already do this anyways? I've done this many times in life...get stuck at a light that doesn't change to allow passage and zero other vehicles in sight....

I do this now. Always have. I'll wait 30 seconds at a deserted light, after that ease on through.

Friend of mine was going hunting at 3 AM. Eased through a red light in Olla. The only other person awake at that hour was the cop who wrote him up.

I spent a week in Utah a couple of years ago and come to think of it I don't believe I ever saw a traffic light. It was wonderful.

would allow a driver to head through a red light if they are waiting on a highway with a speed limit of 55 miles per hour, or lower, during a time of "extremely low traffic levels." Drivers must stop for at the light for at least 90 seconds before they are allowed to proceed

Although I agree with the concept of proceeding through a red light when there is not any traffic, This just sounds like a racket to increase ticket revenue

Good idea, but the 90 second stop is still BS. If no on is coming, just go!

There is one on Hwy 90 that I run almost every night. Serves an industrial road that has zero traffic nights/weekends and beyond it is 10 miles with no lights. I look but barely even slow down.

My God at the amount of billboards we'd see. Gordon would pay to be plastered literally on the pavement of the road.

Cops will be hiding by lights with stop watches.

I always felt BR needed to instill something that after 10pm or 11pm, lights along the street that usually has more traffic, should start blinking yellow. The lights for the streets that cross these should blink red.

You would run into problems with the people in BR either not treating the blinking red like a stop sign or treating the blinking yellow like a stop sign.

Because the average BR driver is a mouth breathing, rock eater.

Not all lights are on cycles out in the rural Rockies. Some are sensors only and the sensors don't always trip.

Isolated intersections are usually run in free mode, meaning there is no cycle length.

House Bill 151, if passed, would allow a driver to head through a red light if they are waiting on a highway with a speed limit of 55 miles per hour, or lower, during a time of "extremely low traffic levels." Drivers must stop for at the light for at least 90 seconds before they are allowed to proceed if it is still red, the bill's text specifies.

I do this all the time - except for the 90 seconds part. Treat it like a stop sign.

Exactly.

If I'm going to workout or into the office at 530 AM and there isn't a soul on the road on some of the lesser traveled roads to work, I just do a rolling stop and keep going.
