I really am not against pressing charges and watching this shitehead ruin his life at this point just texting with him tonight, he was nonchalant and just trying to make me see that it was late (12 am) and he couldnt call anyone and didnt have a credit card or any cash to go home so stealing the bike was his only option and he didn't steal it bc he borrowed it and will be bringing it back ASAP.

Also, an honest person would have returned the next day with the bike. He stole it, end of story. It's probably not his first time. It won't be his last. Save others the headache of dealing with this jackass and press charges. At this point it would almost be irresponsible not to.

apparently this kid has been on the job 2 weeks and thats it. The manager told me it was his first night closing, anyways they fired him. The manager said he lives in florida city which is like 40 miles from where my condo is in miami beach. I dont know wtf this dumbfrick is doing getting an $8/hr job 40 miles from home and i really dont care we agreed that by the time I wake up if the bike isnt back in its spot by 9 am tomorrow, i will be pressing charges against him so lets see what happens.

Pretty much this. If you would like him to continue stealing from your coworkers and neighbors don't call the cops.

Boom. Kid is a thief. He had something on him to cut the lock.
Apathy is killing this country. We allow knuckleheads defending the rights of .001% of the population to dictate how we choose to live. Don't allow a criminal to go unpunished when it is such an open and shut case. He is going to get caught eventually. Maybe if he is caught young, it might might might push him in the right direction.

Confront the guy, tell him he has 10 minutes to return the bike with no problems after that wreck the punk. Thiefs have to be taught, obviously his parents didn't teach him.

your link was dead
so you filed a police report
now the numbskull says he borrowed it etc etc , I dunno, it's your stuff man. and since our youth does feel entitled, it's possible he was gonna bring it back...but sounds more like creative excuses to me
but, he's already fired, no? so what's his incentive to show up by 9am ?

He didn't have money or a credit card but he just happened to have bolt cutters?

Record the exchange for possible worldstar submission. Just remember landscape not portrait.

I just got off the phone with a detective and officially do not feel bad, they had all the kids info since he was clear on cam and I had texts from him admitting to the crime and the little bastard was born in 1995 and already had 8 arrests for petty crimes. The thing that upsets me most is Im a small business owner and I look up everyone on publicdata before hiring them and clearly the manager/owner of this restaurant does not and this criminal had access to my buildings garage. So now the board at my building is having a meeting in 2 hours to see what they can do about limiting access to our garage to the commercial tenants or seeing if they can mandate that they must screen their workers who go in our garage.
The little bastard told me last night the bike would be here in the morning, it wasnt and I had to go through all this nonsense for nearly a day now. The cops have the videos, the texts everything but they said the case isnt really a high priority, which upset me, but I understand there are bigger fish to fry. They said the address the kid has on his drivers license is probably not where he lives but they're charging him with breaking and entering and grand theft and hopefully will have him arrested soon.
So morale of the story, go steal whatever you want if its not too expensive bc cops are too backed up to look into it right away.

And LOL if you believe this. You mean to tell me cops only work major crimes? You mean they are no longer performing operations to bust people with weed? No prostitution stings? No more petty speeding tickets? No more inspection sticker tickets?

the way this detective made it sound was he was so backed up with more important stuff but he would get to this but it may be a few days/weeks and by then this could have moved. Whats ridiculous is you google the bastards name and you see all his different mugshots and arrests, some just weeks apart, im just disgusted the owner did not even do a minor background check on these workers just unreal.
