Which is a bigger waste of money? An 80k boat or an 80k pool?

I suppose you will want to sell your house one day. A pool could be a liability when the day comes to sell your house. A boat - no relevance at all when selling a house.

This

I’d say the boat, but I know folks who use a boat regularly with the little ones getting away from their phones.

Also, a pool could make your home more attractive to purchase......not necessarily increase value.

Neither is a waste if they enhance your lifestyle.

Pick the one that will add more happiness for you and just make it happen.

Love my boat!

Had both. Enjoyed both. I would say the pool to some. We sold that house and I was told that the people that bought it, had it filled in about two years later.

It's not a waste of money if you use and enjoy it

We have a pool with heater so we are able to use it practically 10 months out of the year. Best investment ever.

80k pool?

I know a guy who built a pool, got a divorce, lost the house, and is still paying on the pool. The house has been sold off a few years ago and he is still paying on the damn pool.

$60k boat here

Horrible financial decision but IDGAF because I use the shite out of it. It gets the family out having fun off grid and i can guarantee you in the last 5 years, I've pissed away at least 50k that serves me zero purpose going forward. So there's that.

Usually pool.Typically more upfront and maintenance costs, is not easily transferable, and is potentially a negative impact to the value of your property.

One could just not have anything, live in a pod and take mass transit everywhere, just like the overlords would prefer the drones to do.

This will be our last spring without one. Really pissing me off sitting there looking at it but not being able to swim because it's still about 5 degrees too cold.

What kind did you get?
