Yeah you right, I edited my post. I didn't make it out to much in Metry this year and forgot that 18 was it for them.

3-4 good parades is better than 6 mediocre ones, and it would avoid the parish harrassing them.

Metairie was the first bastion of white flight out of the city. Really, most of the east bank of Jefferson has been white-flighted itself. People with money are gentrifying back into the city, while more traditional middle classers are chasing the newer houses and better schools across the lake.
This is happening to close-in suburbs across the country.

From Tchop up Napoleon and from Napoleon to Milan is the most family oriented area in the city. Filled with porta potties, schools offering restrooms and food, there’s plenty of retail and food options. Very safe neighborhood, plenty of police and families.
Same goes for the parades that start on Jefferson. We’ve never had any issues or ever felt unsafe or uncomfortable

The term “white flight” was made up by the media and is total bull shite. My grandparents moved out to Metairie in ‘46 because they were able to buy land and build a house that was inexpensive.

Let me guess, your grandfather had just returned home from the war. Lots of people were like that and did just that.
All I mean by white flight is the very clear case of white families moving to the suburbs for any number of reasons. Something that happened in urban/suburban areas all across the country in the 60s and 70s.
Not trying to be political. Odd thing to melt about.

If you are referring to the area around Henry Clay / Magazine that only Thoth passes, it's super easy.
If you mean Napoleon and the start of St Charles, it's insanely crowded.

As a member of Endymion, and someone who grew up going to Metairie parades back in the 70’s and 80’s this sucks to see... But, the Metry parades have been going down for a while now. I think it had to do with Krewes not going up on their dues and accepting anyone who could pay.

There’s rumors of a new parade krewe coming to Metairie next year that’s been in the works since late 2017/2018. Supposedly some doctors are fronting the cash. Could just be rumors though.

I guess I've just had bad luck in that area with parking and traffic over the years since I get out that way a lot for work.
But the first weekend parades still ave much less traffic an other issues than anything on that Sunday.
