I spent the holidays in Louisiana and made the trip back to Minneapolis Saturday. -15 degrees actual temperature at my house right now.

I have had people telling me that it is a dry cold, but it is crazy how cold it is. Kids ice fished for four hours yesterday and I sat out by a fire last night while they skated on a homemade rink in my neighborhood. The last third of every beer froze solid just standing there and the ice in a burning fire pit didn't melt after two hours of burning a fire in it.

Happy New Year.

There is a pretty good chance of seeing snow flurries in the NOLA metro area on Wednesday morning according to the local weather on TV this morning.

Won't be much and isn't likely to be an overproducer. Still something for NOLA.

Still haven't quite broke freezing today in my part of the greater BR area. Cold air avection game strong.

My phone says it is 29 here in Covington right now but I’m calling BS on that. It has dropped significantly in the last two hours.

Coldest night of this cold snap will be tonight.

Thinking upper teens in BR. Lots of records for the date going to be set in the area tonight. It's unusual to get this cold with the wind blowing like it is, making the wind chill factor miserable

28 on the Landmass. Supposed to get down to 21 tonight. Won't get out of the 40s until Saturday.

Such a nasty week.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the Causeway or Twinspan doesn’t ice over tomorrow. That would really screw up my commute to Metairie.

I've got a dew point of 12 and there was no precip today. The bridges should be dry for tomorrow.

Still watching that shortwave for flurries tomorrow night, mostly south of the lake. Positive tilt projected keeping the low levels too dry for very much to fall.

It would take that wave of moisture in the Gulf really shifting a good bit further to the north. At this point, as you said, it does not look like that’s going to happen.

24 in BR right now according to my car. I accidentally hit the spray on my windshield wipers while driving home and it froze instantly. Dripping the faucet tonight just to be safe.

That little darker swirly up near MT/WY is our energy for tomorrow night. It'll squeeze every bit of moisture out. If there was a bit more prolonged SW flow with it to being some moisture in, it might of just made another good snow drop.

In this case, it's way too dry north of the lake to have a shot in the low levels. It's a rare thing, us being too cold (really dry) to make snow and not too warm. Kind of funny really, but a good thing. A good snow might stick around a bit and we don't want that.
