Only federal student loans are being forgiven correct?

Mine are with American education services and I don’t think they qualify.

Can those of us that had student loans at one point but paid them off at least get some free Papa John’s or something?

No. You will help pay off loans of others and be happy.

Ice Cream is basically taking a piss right in the middle of your living room floor if you saved, paid off loans or never even made it to college. And he's daring you to say something.

Obamas former economic advisor

quote:

Pouring roughly half trillion dollars of gasoline on the inflationary fire that is already burning is reckless. Doing it while going well beyond one campaign promise ($10K of student loan relief) and breaking another (all proposals paid for) is even worse.

quote:

The White House fact sheet has sympathetic examples about a construction worker making $38K and a married nurse making $77,000 a year.

But then why design a policy that would provide up to $40,000 to a married couple making $249,000? Why include law and business school students?

quote:

There are a number of other highly problematic impacts including encouraging higher tuition in the future, encouraging more borrowing, creating expectations of future debt forgiveness, and more.

quote:

Most importantly, everyone else will pay for this either in the form of higher inflation or in higher taxes or lower benefits in the future. I did a thread on this last night but given the new announcement you need to double everything in it.

He isn't wrong.

Biden allowing this for households up to $250,000 income is hilarious.

Can't wait until next April when everyone that is celebrating not having to pay off the $10k DOES have to pay taxes on $10k additional income they weren't planning for.

That should be entertaining.

This is a gotdamn joke. My ol lady walks across the stage on Friday right after this numbskull of a president announces $10k in student loan forgiveness. All those years of doing “the right thing“ and working to pay as she goes and her graduation present is this administration awarding poor decision making. This is unfricking real. What a kick in the teeth.

Rewarding irresponsible people in order to buy their vote. This country is doomed.

So that's $20k forgiveness for joint filers, assuming both have outstanding loans? I don't get it.

I bet the dems are thinking this is a way to free up money that the new IRS army can just come along and take right back. Too bad that makes no sense, like most things they think.

i get it but lets not act like the american taxpayer is going to be paying MORE in taxes to support this bailout...there is no balance sheet here. this is all made-up "money" without any real accounting

we are so long past the time where "the money has to come from somewhere"
