And? Trump was not perfect. He was far too reactionary to crisis.

So is taking voting requirements and procedures from duly elected state legislatures explicitly charged and obligated to legislate and enforce them. I don't think SCOTUS is up to the task of recognizing what's unconstitutional and what's not.

Correct. That's why it expired- it didn't work on fighting crime. The only thing it accomplished was suppressing what legal gun owners had access to.

Imagine if Trump was considering executive action on abortion. Why is that implied constitutional rights matter while explicit ones do not?

You could not be more correct, my fear though, is who will stop them? The SCOTUS caves on everything, the "legislative" branch is useless.....
We can scream "unconstitutional" until the end of time but it means nothing if our checks and balances are completely broken.

We don’t have to imagine. He did sign one on abortion.

Abortion is specifically outlined in the US Constitution?

Absolutely. Supreme Court is now filled with cowards that are easily swayed by political and societal whims instead of upholding the constitution.

I really wish they'd make drugs illegal while they're at it, because they kill more people than homicide by gun. If only stuff like heroin was illegal, then no one would be able to get their hands on them and we'd save a lot of lives. We just need more laws and people won't want to break laws and everything will be dandy.

This Supreme Court will never stand up for us. Someone has some very nasty, compromising information on Roberts. It's really bad.

Does anyone fact check this guy?
The fact checkers that get the most views are already biased towards him. That’s why so many people that complained about Trump lying have no clue how much lying and flip flopping Biden did during his campaign and now.

Apparently it wasn’t unconstitutional when Trump banned bump stocks with executive order. Set a terrible precedent for Biden to continue with.

When they say, "we can't get anything done in Congress" they fail to realize that's a feature, not a bug.
The filibuster is not how government is supposed to work. They've got the votes under normal rules.
There are only a few main things they're looking at that all have BROAD public support:
- enhanced and universal background checks (84% of GOP voters support)
- "Red Flag" laws allowing court-ordered confiscation of weapons from mentally disturbed individuals (Trump and McConnell both touted support for this one, coupled with ~70% support from GOP voters)
- licensure for gun ownership (65% GOP voter support)
- limiting magazine capacities (51% GOP voter support)
These are just common sense items. The 2nd amendment alludes to a "well regulated militia". None of these items infringe upon that descriptor, none of them are trying to take away guns from responsible gun owners, and none of them are radical ideas.
I'm surprisingly supportive of the 2nd amendment and gun ownership. That said, we can't allow every Tom, Dick, and Harry to run around with extremely dangerous weapons that can kill dozens of people within moments with absolutely no oversight, qualifications, or regulation. I mean, frick, you can't even drive a car without insurance these days but you can obtain weapons and ammunition designed for mass carnage with very little oversight?

question here as I was too young to pay attention. did the previous "assault weapon ban" get reviewed by the supreme court?
Posted on 3/23/21 at 3:28 pm to VanRIch
The people will never be secure as long as the police force has access to weapons that the people do not.
That the founding fathers were not more forward thinking on this - or more specific if they were - is their single greatest fault.

Will never happen. Sorry about your premature ejaculation
