The Southeast BR ISD boundary was already signed into law. Once they get the MFP dollars approved this will be the new school district,
I'd like to learn more about that. I just googled and nothing came up. Can you help me find some more info on that?

I can tell you’re not from here. The Government pushed bussing on BR and flat out destroyed schools. Then white flight and private schools resulted. Magnet schools became a thing for mostly those that couldn’t afford private school. The problem is not every average or even above average white kid gets a Magnet ticket. The alternative is a D or F public school.
Who gives a frick if your kid gets ripped from a D or F school? That’s the least of their parents problems.

I thought the whole parish voted on a new ISD? Has that happened?
Posted on 10/18/19 at 2:04 pm to Damone
Bonds and property taxes I imagine, plus the use of existing school buildings.

I thought that was original proposal that then Senator Broome recommended forming a city first.
I guess it could be listed somewhere in something that was passed, but until it’s part of an amendment and passed statewide it wouldn’t have taxing authority or be able to receive the free books and whatever else state provides like a parish school district or amended in municipal districts (during that process boundaries are going to be redrawn). I do think if school district happens it will include more than the city of StG, but I don’t know if boundaries are tied down already by a current law.

The same way it always is. how do people not know this? it is like the person who thinks Baton Rouge paid for the schools in St. george. No the people of st. george paid for the schools in st. george.

I don't understand how to determine if that bill was adopted and signed into law as you say it was. It appears to be a draft mark up of a bill. It's not signed nor is it marked "Approved" on the signature page.
In any case, the last page of the .pdf you linked says:

There is clearly a large number of individuals who have no desire to be part of Baton Rouge and who want their own city. The response? We will do everything we can to thwart that desire, vote results be damned.
The honest response would be "hey, a majority of the voters want their own City ... have at it."

Regardless, it's great news that the Gardere are would be included in the St. George ISD. That area and those kids will be in a much better position with new and better schools.

Because it is all about keeping that St George money.
Won’t incorporate those areas but they’ll be damned if their serfs form their own city and spend their own money.

There were two Senate bills filed in 2013 for the ISD. One established the school system, and the other was to release the MFP dollars. Senate Bill 199 established the school district and only required a simple majority vote was passed through both houses and signed into law as Act 295.
The second bill SB 73 was a Constitutional amendment to grant the Southeast Baton Rouge community school system in East Baton Rouge Parish the same authority granted parishes relative to MFP funding and raising revenue for schools. SB 73 failed to get the 2/3 majority in the Senate, and it was for this bill that it was said by Sen's Colomb and Sharon Weston Broome that it was unheard of that an unincorporated area has its own school system, that it would be better if they formed their own city.

What kid do you know that goes to school in a public school in his or her neighborhood? Other than Central, Baker and Zachary, you can't go to a school near your home.

So they can ruin them? Look at the area they live in? You know why Areas like that are horrible? Because the people (not all, but enough to make it the norm) destroy everything and turn it to shite because they have no skin in the game and don’t care.
You can take a brand new apt complex and make it section 8 and it will be a complete dump in less than 5 years

That section of the Constitution is what SB 74 dealt with. It allows MFP funds to be spent on the ISD the same as it would for a parish-wide school system. Interestingly enough, the opposition seems to believe that this also requires a parish-wide vote. That does not appear to be the case, unless there is some other law governing this.
ETA: It was signed into law. Here is the official record. Louisiana Legislature

All I'm saying is that area falls within the new proposed St. George school district and if it passes, those kids from underprivileged areas and families will have the right to benefit from the new schools and hopefully better themselves and their neighborhoods.

Which begs a somewhat related question... what are the numbers for the legislature looking like for the upcoming year?
Enough that a 2/3 majority is possible?

Court ordered forced busing ended over 10 years ago. The school system was declared in compliance and the deseg lawsuit was signed by a federal judge in July, 2007.
The only busing out of child's neighborhood in EBR Parish now, other than if there is NO neighborhood school near them, is for students to attend magnet or gifted programs that they chose to attend such as for Baton Rouge Magnet High School or Lee High.
