90s. I listen to way more 90s music. There was some serious cringe in the 80s (glam rock...yeah I was into it but was young and dumb). Nirvana. Pearl Jam. Radiohead. Wilco. Tom Petty's Willdflowers. U2's Achtung Baby renaissance.
The economy was ROARING. The government had a surplus for a couple of years. The internet blew up.
The 90s were pretty timeless. You can look back on the hottest chicks from the 90s and generally their hair doesn't look "out of style" the way the 80s aqua-net styles do. Go look up pics of Sara Michelle Gellar, Sara Evans, Monica Potter, etc..
I'm in IT and we ruled the roost up until the tech crash.

serious clark?
ever actually looked at the violent crime rate? murder rate?
example...this is homocide rate in NYC. Notice the 80-90s. the peak of over 2200 murders in 1990, to 635 in 98 to under 300 by 2018. even in the post covid spike, it never broke 500. let me guess you think they are worse than ever huh?

new orleans was routinely having over 300 murders per year in the mid 90s especially in 93 when they had 395 and peaking with 424 in 1994. by 1999 that was cut down over half to 158. even with the sudden uptick post covid to 266 murders...that was nothing compared to the 90s.
so yea im serious and if you look at the stats its like that across the board
the 80/90s were violent and dangerous as frick. way more rapes, way more kidnappings, way more assault. way more violence Clark

While I was mostly too young to truly appreciate the 80s as they were happening, that decade. The 90s did have some greatness; however, the 80s gave us:
Ronald Reagan, the OG MAGA President, spearheading the crumble of the USSR
Prime Joe Montana, Roger Craig and Ronnie Lott and the first half of Prime Jerry Rice
Prime Lawrence Taylor
Rocky III & IV
Top Gun
Monster Ballad Rock
Peak Hank Williams, Jr.
Prime Rickey Henderson
Carl Lewis, which I think was the last of Men's Olympic athletes gold medaling in separate running and field events
That US Hockey team taking down the POS Commie Soviets
Overall, the 1980s brought back alot of pride in America from many of its citizens, that seemed to be reeling from Vietnam, JFK Assassination, POS Lyndon Johnson, Nixon resigning from Watergate, and the failure of the Peanut Farmer. The movies and pop culture at the time seemed to reflect that since of renewed pride, like the movies mentioned above, and TV shows like Night Rider and the A-Team.
I wish I could experience it now at the age I am. Sure, there were still LOTS of challenges and scares, but looking back, it seemed to be a very positive turning point for our country as a whole.

IMO 1985 to 1995 was peak greatness, but it might depend on where you were in life.
I was in high school from 86-90 and college from 90-95. I feel like I got the best both decades had to offer growing up.

agreed 100%, i was young but this is what I remember most. felt like it a renewed sense of pride and then the 90s came and we kicked arse in the gulf war and the economy started going ape shite and the tech boom and the music and mtv and it was just kind of the realization of the 80s manifested.
and it stayed that away until 9/11 fricked everything up and people grasped for safety over freedom.
country has never recovered because as soon as we started to, the great recession happened, then covid and the liberal craziness and blm and all the bull shite of today.

I was a kid in the 80s- best time of my life.
I was a teenager in the 90s - best time of my life part two.
I loved both decades for different reasons, most already stated….
I know one thing if all of us could go back to either the 80s or 90s we would go back no matter which.
Today? I feel like the guy in the 90s movie “Kids” at the end when he looks at the camera and says..”What the frick Happened?”

85-95 Peak Music Years
And being young with hardly any responsibilities. Except 94 that year sucked personally

80’s, by far!
No cell phones. No personal computers.
No massive invasion of privacy.
The ambulance chasing lawyers and liberal courts hadn’t started taking away all our freedoms yet.
People still took personal responsibility for their mistakes, accidents, and poor choices.
And…. The music in the 80’s blew away the 90’s.

turned 18 in September of 1986 and could legally drink, buy alcohol and go to bars. Law changed to 21 on January 1st 1987 and those in between were not grandfathered in so I became illegal again.
Similarly situated but remember different.
I was at LSU in 1987, under the age of 21 and was not required to have a guardian when going to bars or buying alcohol at a store.
An article about this says the law passed in 1986 but wasn’t enforced until 1995.
From an google-
Louisiana changed its drinking age to 21 in 1986. This was in response to the National Minimum Drinking Age Act, which required states to raise their drinking age to 21 to receive full federal highway funding. While the state legislature raised the drinking age in 1986, a loophole in the law allowed businesses to continue selling alcohol to 18-year-olds until 1995, according to College Media Network. In 1996, the Louisiana Supreme Court temporarily lowered the drinking age to 18, but later reversed its decision and raised it back to 21.

100% agree with you on the 80s being the best. But I did have a computer in the 80s. It was a Commodore 128D
