I was a Jr. Member at the Island for a while. I really enjoyed it, but haven't played there in years.

I've only played Carter once, so I don't have a good enough base for opinion.

My favorite public course in BR was LSU. The price was always right.

Best layout in the area?

Gotta be close, right?

Always has good greens.

I just hate dealing with the wind there.

Its the British Open every Saturday.

Tough call, but I enjoy playing carter a little more

My favorite public/semiprivate course in BR area is The Bluffs or Santa Maria, but I rarely play either.

Playing the bluffs Saturday though, weather permitting

Ill say Carter. Tho I have not played the Island in several years. But the last time I did, the course wasn't in great condition.

Hard to call on this one, although both are really good courses.

Island I think is more fun. Carter is in consistently better shape I think.
But then again I play Carter way more due to it being close to me.

Paid $35 to play LSU a couple of weeks ago... way to much for that goat ranch... I can play the Bluffs for less with a hot deals from golfnow.

Two entirely different layouts. The Island is the closest thing in the immediate BR area to a links course. Carter is a more tradition wooded course.
Both have their unique styles but I just prefer Carter because of it's layout.
When it is in top shape it's a fine course to play.

2nd hole at the Island might be the most intimidating tee shot in the city.

You're thinking of #5

@cbandits

The tee shot on 2 isn't as intimidating as the 2nd shot on that hole

I've played tournaments in both in the last few months. Overall, Carter is easily better. In better shape and just a better course.

But that's not to say that The Island isn't nice, because it is. I absolutely hate that course (and its glass-fast greens), but it was in really great shape a couple weeks ago.

I've birdied both. Also eagled #2 at the island from the tips.

I played Uclub last weekend

Those greens just stay unfair

I hit the ball really well and shot 86

I must have had 38 putts

Well right now Carter is an Island...so the island is the correct answer?
