Better career opportunity Houston or San Francisco

What do? I am torn between these two cities. If I move to San Fran my girlfriend will be doing long distance. If I move to Houston, I would be able to see her more often. Also I am a CPA if anyone is curious to what I do

Same pay?
Houston all day.
50k in Houston=90k in San Fran.

SF for the money. Houston for the pussy.

Cost of living would concern me more than the GF

I was looking at prices in Oakland about 1k rent

Gotcha. In that case how much does the GF mean to you?

Uhh...houston if you want to keep more of your money.

I like SF but I can't see any reason why it would be better for a CPA with a girl in Houston to work in SF over Houston.
If you're helping an upstart get off the ground or going to a far more prestigious firm, it might be a discussion. Otherwise, Houston unless you just want to live in SF more than you want to be around your GF.

I'm calling bullshite on that. If $1k rent exists in Oakland its probably very very cultcha-ish
shite im about to move to Houston and most decent apartments are $1100-$1200 minimum, i find it hard to believe Oakland is cheaper
i would rather die than live in the Bay Area though. Houston all day unless you are getting paid 3x more for the Bay Area.
Also long distance relationships are for chumps

Better career opportunities and growth long term - Houston
Better place to live and still be successful - San Francisco.

As others have said, we're going to need more information on salaries for each place before making a decision. I don't care if you live in Oakland, cost of living is going to be insane compared to Houston.

Houston for lower taxes

Houston, once the pipeline gets underway. Money will be flowing, everywhere.

This depends. I'm probably more moderate than a lot of of people on this board and I live ITP Atlanta. I'd still rather live in Houston than SF. West coast is a huge cultural difference and I'd never feel at home there.
SF is faaaaaarrrrr more interesting than Houston. But that doesn't mean Houston isn't the better place to live for a lot of people. Places like Dallas, Houston and Atlanta are all very boring compared to SF/NYC but arguably better places to live.

Does she know you are having a hard time deciding? Once she finds this out, she will no longer be a factor.

What exactly does 1k get you in Oakland?
