The Euro is still putting a lot of rain over SELA through Thursday. GFS is showing something similar. Get some enhanced convergence over the region and you get a rain band that kind of pulses in intensity and in exact location but just hangs over the region for days.

Then Beta is trying to cut off the dry air under a little blob of intense convection and make a somewhat improbable run toward hurricane...tropics are such fun.

No more, 2020.. no more, please

I'll note, the GFS has lower rain totals but is on the idea of a band trying to set up over SELA for a while. Just going to watch for it to set up and see how much rain it drops in the early going.

No need to be too worried at this point, just aware. The WPC is way less aggressive than the models are fwiw.

Just being dramatic for entertainment.

This is still 5 days out, right? This could easily change.

I get twitchy when I start seeing big rainfall totals after 2016, but it seems like even the more Aggressive models aren’t pushing anything close to that right?

I know people read these threads, so I don't want to have anyone thinking it's time to build an ark at this point.

I think the general idea might hold, but not taking rainfall totals on models to heart at this point.

No, nothing like 2016.

At least right now, the hi-res models aren't really seeing the same kind of heavy rain potential that the Euro is showing.

The 12z HREF (hi-res ensemble model run for SPC) shows this through 48hrs. One interesting thing is the rainfall from N. Texas into NW Louisiana. That appears to be associated with a PRE like feature and often times models under do totals associated with a PRE.

Regardless of amount of rain this forecast sucks for Hurricane Laura restoration activities.

Mainly I’m just stating what I think he will do....mixed in with some unbiased thinking...mixed in with some trolling.
