I have gotten recomendations from friends about both of these brands of shoes. Im kinda old school and have worn Nike or Adidas in the past when I'm out on the weekends on my feet all day walking etc.

What info can yall give on these new brands, Hoka One one and ON cloud?

Hoka’s are pretty legit. They don’t make 4E width so I can’t get them, but people I know that have them love them. Don’t know anyone with Cloud’s but according to running sites they are supposed to be good quality.

I mainly stick with Brooks or ASICS for running, and New Balance for work.

I recently purchased my first pair of On Clouds. I walk at least two miles per day and try to run two to three miles every other day. I wear these shoes for both.

I've ran my entire life, running several marathons annually when I was younger.

These are the best running/walking/trail hiking shoes I've ever owned and would buy them again without question. They sat me back about $140 at a specialty shoe store.

I'd say go to a good shoe store and try on both to see for yourself.

I liked the Hokas I tried on, but they were ugly AF. But they were extremely comfortable.

I liked the look of the On Clouds I tried on, but they just didn't feel very durable. They weren't as comfortable as the Hokas.

I settled on a pair of Saucony trail runners. Been a great, and comfortable, shoe.

Not sure which On shoes I have, but I do believe I’ll buy that brand exclusively for athletic shoes going forward. I like them a lot.

Does the foot width transfer to girth the same way the lengths match up?

Saucony

That's one of those words that I've always read but never heard out loud. I was at a shoe store and the guy pronounced them sawkony. Blew my mind. I always thought it was like sauce.

New Balance is the best at having wide options.

if i'm worried about cushion for being on my feet all day, hoka, OC, or New Balance.

If i want a nice running shoe, the above all make some with brooks or asics.

Hoka for actual athletic pursuits or all day standing I'd think. They look dumb but they're good if you want max cushion. There are increasingly more competitors for that category, though.

Ons are great for travel or general walking, but they're not as plush. But they are light and streamlined. I certainly prefer them for walking the dog or running to the store because they don't feel as clunky and they look a lot better. I wore a hole in my Ons after like 6 weeks though, and I'm not particularly hard on shoes (and didn't run much in them).

How do they compare to Brooks? I've yet to find an athletic/running shoe that comes close to the comfort of Brooks. I have an everyday pair and some trail runners that I use when I hike the AT

I should have said I was looking for trail runners for hiking. I am 6'4" with girly ankles prone to rolling - I've sprained my ankles at least a dozen times, collectively. The On Clouds did seem fine for just every day wear, but not for my intended use. The only Hoka trail runners the store had were green and orange like Miami U colors. Just awful.

I've had both. The Clouds are great for jogging. I bought the Hoka Bondis for walking stairs and hills, due to the padding. Hokas aren't nice looking shoes but I love how they feel.If you have a jacked up back or knee, I'd go with Hokas but if not, the Clouds.

I’ve worn Hoka One Ones with a vibram outsole for the last two years. The vibram tread is still crazy grippy. These have lasted the longest out of the various different work shoes I’ve bought. It was well worth the $170.

Yeah I was just chiming in generally. I don't think Ons would hold up for hiking anyway TBH. I know they have some variants for hiking or harder use but they don't look all that robust either.

I'm actually looking for trail runners too at the moment. My wife just got some Pegasus trail shoes (I love Nike Pegasus but hate Nike for reasons I KNOW you can guess). But I may have to break down and get some too, she loves hers for easy/moderate hikes.

I have plantars issues and the HOKA shoes have been life changing. Currently have Bondi 6 and Clifton 5. The Bondi's have alot more toe room than Cliftons.
