The fact that we don't suck as bad as Mississippi.

Their gulf coast is much better than ours. But north Louisiana is better than anything else in Mississippi

Louisiana has a lot of great people

You mean the ones that trash the side of the highways? There are good people but it’s not majority or anything. A very large chunk of Louisianians don’t give two shits about keeping things nice, taking care of the state or electing the right officials but they swear they have the biggest state pride. It makes no sense.

It’s kind of like growing up poor. When you finally leave it behind, it feels like a badge of honor.

And then you want to help others make that same journey. In the process of doing that, it becomes frustrating when you see the people left behind who choose to embrace that environment and still bitch about how shitty it is to live in that environment without making any changes to better their standard of living.

If you make at least 200k in household income louisiana is pretty freaking great.

My closest habitual drug user as the highway runs is roughly 7 miles away.

As the crow flies, 5-6 miles.

My property taxes last year were low enough that I paid for a few hundred acres with what was in the console.

Gun laws are pretty lax.

Excellent dining options within an evening drive.

Scenic drives in every direction.

Good people.

Are there nicer places? Sure. Have I lived out of state? Almost as far away as it it possible to get.

But I always gravitated to those who reminded me of home. The scottish expats who were fond off good whiskey and quick to anger. The australians who all reminded me of a taller Cajun. the ukrainian guys who talked a little funny but made killer food. The Irish women who always seemed ready for a stiff drink and an inappropriate remark.

No matter where I've lived I always make an attempt to recreate the odd melting pot that is louisiana.

I truly believe all of the uptight frickers who leave are baptists pretending to be coonasses
