Get some Nokian Hakkapeliitta's and you can run just about any vehicle in the snow. They invented the winter tire and the Finn's know what they are doing.

This guy can't stop bragging...paying over 7K mortgage...drives a Tesla...wants to spend 80K on a new car...buying new AC with zones in each room.

No, it's the one with the 135 HP? Chevy v-6. with the automatic it has a setting that softens the shift for snow, and also starts off in higher gears, so it doesn't break the tires loose.
In everyday drive, it has a 4.30 gear ratio. It will go absolutely anywhere.

I just want to say if that's the 4 speed on the vehicross, that was the most over engineered POS until fords 8+ speed monstrosities.

Damned capable off-road though. A vehicross was a fun little unit

It has over 300,000 miles on it, and the worst breakdown has been the belt tensioner pulley on the engine.
It aint just capable off road.

Good tires are more important than anything else. Just throw some Nokians on what you buy and you’ll be fine.

Is it the same? I don't know.

You just described some of the same features.

Actually not the same, though I think both transmissions are built by Asaan. The vehicross transmission will bolt up to the Troopers with the 3.2 or 3.5 DOHC engines, but not to the Chevy pushrod v-6. Same internal design pretty much though, I'm sure.

Speed ratings. Z generally means extremely short tread life. I chose to get V rated tires with a much longer tread life (UTQC rating). I don't drive it hard enough to need the handling a Z rated tire gives.

My old Land Cruiser treated snow the way Dave Chappelle treated Eddie Murphy's couch.

Subi's do very well in the snow.

I have a '14 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 Overland and it does really well in the snow as well.

One of my sisters in Colorado had 4Runner for some time and eventually also got a JGC though hers was a limited and didn't have nearly as capable a 4xd system as the one in the Overland. Both did just fine in CO winters though.

My other sister in Colorado has a Suburban for her family and it's adequate. She really misses the Land Cruiser she had before but it wasn't big enough to comfortably haul around her 3 kids and all their shite at once.

Parents when in CO have had Wranglers (Rubicon), Grand Cherokees (Overland), and Discoverys. My mother is currently in an LR4. All of them did/do very well up in the mountains where she lives.

Land Rover never had the money to build them right. They have a lot of character though.

I expect the restoration market will take off for them soon. There’s nothing like them on the market, and they were always cool to start with.

Had an old rav4 (2004 model) that was the best I've driven. My subaru crosstrek would be 2nd. Snow tires help a lot. If i cant get around in rav4 or crosstrek its time to stay home
