Kentucky built this for it's transportation cabinet.
That's a massive building for just one state government organization.

Arkansas’s is also helped by perfect placement. When they built the current capitol building, they nailed the location for having good views of it from several places around the city.
I10 was positioned so that the only building you can see when approaching baton rouge is the state capital.

I visited Austin for the first time last weekend, and walked to Capitol, and I thought that it was very nice.

i'm guessing they wanted to highlight stucco cause it matches the historical architecture of the area, why didn't they fully commit to the historical architecture. there are several types to chose from Pueblo Style, Mission Style, or Spanish colonial
They built it round to harken back to the Pueblo and their drawings of the sun. The Pueblo Zia Sun symbol is also on the state flag of NM.

From a bird's-eye view, the Roundhouse resembles the Zia sun symbol, which is also emblazoned on the New Mexico state flag. The image, which originated at Zia Pueblo, incorporates elements representing the sun's rays, the four directions, the four seasons, and the four phases of life. The State Seal of New Mexico, carved in stone, hangs above each of the Roundhouse's four entrance wings.
All that said though, I'm with you. That's a god-awful capitol building.

That's great but you'd think the architect would know that no one on street level can tell. I guess the building might be in a flight path so people can appreciate the Zia Sun?

Except for the cum stains on the carpet. The White House copied Arkansas after Clinton took office.

US 190 in West Baton Rouge is like that for a few miles.

For a big state like Virginia and it’s illustrious history as an original colony theirs is very meh

LA capitol in BR is #1 and everything else is a distant second.
This is 1000% correct.
I like the Massachusetts State House, but largely because of how its located at the top of Beacon Hill overlooking the Boston Common. Given how old Boston is, there's also a lot of cool history behind it. The inside of it is terribly run down, though.

You’re absolutely right.
You know, other than the fact that Louisiana’s Capitol building was completed a year before Nebraska’s…
No one, ever, in the history of humanity, has said “man we should be more like Nebraska”
