Well LA did copy nebraska

I don't think so, its modeled after the Los Angeles City Hall building, which Huey wanted to make even taller and more majestic. Plus Louisiana's still has forensic evidence of a mob style hit in the main room. But the Old State Capitol is certainly unique.

Doesn't look anything like the White House.

Sounds like Georgia's capitol. Neat gold dome, but shite surroundings

Originally was going to be clad in limestone:

From Wiki

quote:

The designers originally planned for the building to be clad entirely with hill country limestone quarried in Oatmanville (present-day Oak Hill), about 10 miles (16 km) to the southwest. However, the high iron content of the limestone led it to discolor rapidly with rust stains when exposed to the elements.

I meant the US capitol, don’t know why I said White House.

A smaller, cheaper, uglier version of Huey Long's phallus in Baton Rouge.

JFC. I can't imagine how long that would take. I know they had more than one person doing it probably, but just think if you were the only one up there and had to apply 3&3/8" gold leaf squares to the whole thing. One of the worst jobs in the world. Holy shite.

That is a pretty cool looking capitol though. With most of the capitols having domes, this one is head and shoulders above. The dome is just beautiful.

I can't imagine today's taxpayers agreeing to building something as ornate today

The Hawaii Capitol building may be the worse from that article. Looks like a library.

I lived in HI for four years and drove past this building all the time and never noticed it was the capitol building.

Has anyone posted the NY capitol? think it's the coolest of all. It looks like some Manhattan hotel that was built in the 1880s. "The Netherlander Hotel, once the gathering place for Society's upper crust, was demolished in 1953 to make room for a parking garage."

I keep expcting Herman Munster to look out one of the windows....
