Don’t get sucked into the name brand. Technology is advancing so fast on tv’s imo it isn’t worth dropping big bucks on a tv. I have 60 inch in my living room and it is great. Bought it a year and half ago for like 1300. Just replaced the one in my bedroom. Went with a 350 dollar TCL from Walmart and it has a better picture than the Sony.

65" LG plugged into Bose. Love the tv... Great picture and features.

I have a couple smaller TCL tvs with Roku built in and really like them. Especially for the price. I just got a 55" samsung SUHD, 2018 model.
Smart TVs are a dime a dozen. The user interface now needs to be a major factor similar to choice in phones. The new 2018 Samsung I just got blows TCL/Roku out of the water with it's sleek minimal UI. It has a smart remote that will control most devices connected to the TV. You can speak into the remote to search or change channels. I would splurge for a new samsung on a large tv and stick with TCL for smaller.
I haven't seen the new TCLs but heard they are pretty good.

I saw a whole lot of Sony open boxes at Best Buy the other day. I asked what's the deal and was told they overheat quite frequently.

I have a 65 inch LG OLED as my main TV. Plugged into a tuner...surround sound speakers in the ceiling.
