I have one for sale if you are interested. It was bought at Aucoin Hart in Metairie.
Center stone is princess cut a little over one karat. It has 42 smaller diamonds around it that totoal about 1/2 karat. Mounting is 18k white gold.
It looks similar to this. I'm willing to deal.

I second this. He custom made a ring for my fiancee. He does great work.

Please tell me you are not gonna propose on Christmas. Sooooo cliché and just lame.
And....if the engagement doesn't work out...you have fricked up her Christmas for a few years to come.

It's women. I told my wife she could buy a 3c flawless diamond ring for like 1k if she went with a synthetic diamond. No one would ever know it was grown in a lab. She thought I was out of my mind.

Aucoin Hart buys back the diamonds they sell. Just return it, and lose the mounting cost.

What about Christmas eve? Day after?

frick all that. Do these two things:
1. Tell the bitch go get a ring with your credit card just like she would go get a new purse.
2. Make an appointment with the JOP.
The entire process, pageantry, and bullshite is fricking retarded. Trust me. I didn't learn the first time and did it AGAIN.

It is sitting there now. I don't like the price they quoted me. They said if you don't need the money, it is best to sit on it until a buyer who really likes the style comes along. That is what I'm doing.

I made a thread on here months ago about engagement rings and the stupid associated costs with being traditional and buying a diamond. Suggested people just get a simple wedding band for each other instead. Some chicks commented and went crazy on me. Said they wanted to look down at that big rock on their finger and remember that special day. Dumbest reason I've heard.
Don't listen to anyone's advice OP. Spend what you're comfortable with. Your SO will love you regardless and if she wants to talk shite about the ring then she isn't someone you want to spend the rest of your life with.

Don't go to any of these places. Order the stone off jamesallen.com and have them set it or get someone else to. You'll spend $4000 on a $2000 ring in ANY retail location.

Why not just another time in general?
That way that day is special to her all on it's own. Not because it's already a holiday. But it's her own personal holiday because it was the day you asked her to be your wife.
I mean...to each their own. It just seems the Christmas and Valentine's day proposals are just really cheesy and unoriginal.

Saunders Lux
Jules Madere
Classic Jewelers
Barker's
Between those 4, you should be able to find something truly unique and beautiful. The customer service at Saunder's is second to none. I found my setting at Jules Madere and my diamond at Saunder's.

My advice is go to a jewelry store that carries the nicest designers and find a ring you like. With that diamond in mind shop wholesalers like Fishman and Sons in NY, online. Buy the diamond, GIA, and have it shipped to the jeweler, who will verify the stone. Then have the ring made by the designer with her ring size and the diamond size set. The ring is scaled perfectly by the designer...and in the end you don't pay the markup the nice jewelry store puts on their diamonds.
