You might want to try the food board. There were some recent discussions on the oil less fryers there.

I used a propane oil-less fryer over thanksgiving to cook two birds, it works really well. I don't have any experience with electric. I'm all about propane and propane accessories.

Yes ima propane man myself and that's what i'm leaning towards, just wanted to hear it from some who use propane and had good luck with them.from what i have read seems like it may take a bit more time to cook but that's fine.I know to inject the bird, but do some of you use olive oil rub on outside and seasoning too ?

Never used a propane one but I have cooked a dozen birds (turkeys and chickens) on an electric cooker with great results.

I bought an electric Butterball and a Char-Broil propane to try out for Thanksgiving. They both cook good. I personally prefer the propane because it browns the turkeys/chicken/food just like it was fried or grilled.

With the electric you have to cook with the glass lid on the whole time and it is very hard to get the food to brown. We tried olive oil and then an italian dressing and it still won't brown as much as I would like.

At Christmas since the electric has to heat up and it takes 20 to 30 minutes we are going to start the turkey in the propane while the electric warms up. That way when the propane turkey is done we will still have 20 to 30 minutes to move the turkey from the Butterball to the Char-Broil and cook it with the wire-mesh-browning lid.

With the Char-Broil you only use the lid if you want the food browned more than it is. We have never used it before. This video shows a 16 pound turkey cooked with the Char-Broil lid on the whole time - Oooops !!!! He even puts a message at the 1:58 mark that he later learned to cook without the lid.

Don't cook with the lid

I used the eletric and rubbed the outside with with the same thing I used for injection.

Also, put some Slap Ya Mama on the outside as well. Browned up really well.

I have the Big Easy and it is superb. One factor for me was that I can cook with it when the power is out after a storm for instance.

Yes, but don't buy it from Amazon. I have bought three in the last month plus one electric Butterball. All of them are $ 79.99 at Academy right now and were before T-giving also.

I can't find any anywhere here in Savannah. I got the random thought today that I wanted fried turkey for Christmas and I can't find an infrared fryer.
