Don't mean to derail the thread, but did anyone used to go to Joe's on Nicholson by Rad Motorcycles? Your description of the place by Reeves reminded me of him, but I don't think his partner Bob was Italian.

Used to go to the three guys in the Union. All were ex-Military. Alll cleaned the neck up with a straight razor.

Went once my freshman year in 05.

Sliced the skin around my ear enough to draw blood.

So to the one right next to Reeves.

Bunch of Old Dagos. They’ll do you right

Went to them for a couple years before switching to Troy’s off of Perkins.

The young dude was annoying as frick and they all tell the same jokes every time you go in. I just couldn’t take it any more.

Master Cut. Not the Master Cuts in the mall. I have never had my hair cut anywhere else. My dad used to bring me when I'd have to walk the booster seat up to the chair myself and for doing that work for Frank he'd give me some pennies to get gum out the machine.

Love that shop. Love the convo, love the jokes - not for the easily offended. But a lot of the world's problems get solved there on a daily basis.

Only been to Cutrones. Is there any barber better?

That's where I used to go. Lawrence can do a damn good fade. But if you're looking for a trim with scissors, he just starts hacking away. Last couple of times I left, my cut was a little jacked up. Plus his other barbers are goofballs.

I just started going to SportsCuts, but I'm going to follow this to see other suggestions.

I remember you posting in a thread a few months ago saying face Reeves and if you're white go right, black go left. shite was actually spot on.

The shop next to Reeves is where I go and they give a very good and inexpensive haircut. But if you want the best haircut in Baton Rouge and are willing to pay more for it then go see Troy Mercer at Mercer Supply on Nicholson.

i second this. Jenson at Lee Caro Salon has been taking care of me of the last 1+. It's not cheap but the women in my life always compliment me on my hair. He also keeps my beard in check.

That was Joe Delouise from Donaldsonville, and his partner Bob Griffon from St. Gabriel. Joe was definitely Italian but Bob was probably of English descent.
I don't think Bob liked kids, because I remember the one time he cut my hair he kept his hand pressed down hard on the top of my skull to the point that it fricking hurt. I asked my dad to not take me back to him to cut my hair. After that it was Joe that cut it and he was cool.
By the way, Press Maravich, and most of LSU's coaching staff and administration got their hair cut in there. It was a veritable who's who in that place.

Oscar Legendre at Head Quarters right off S. Sherwood Forrest Blvd. south of I-12. He's a Tulane fan, but don't hold that against him... one of the best barbers in town and a very personable guy.
