When I was a little kid we used to go stay on the best bank and hit the gretna parade. It was nice and kid friendly as anywhere circa 1990. This rider was taunting people with a stuffed animal. Guy in crowd made a jump for it and fell. Rider then threw unopened budweiser and smashed the guy on the ground in the chest with it. Gretna pd pulled the guy off the float and he tried to fight them. Then got the billy club treatment. It was awesome

1971ish.... I was 6 or 7...I saw a guy walking down the middle of the parade route with a pistol shooting telephone poles in the Irish Channel. My Dad made us duck in the back of a pickup, but I peeked over the side. A guy my Dad knew well snuck up behind the pistol guy with a long metal bar and smacked him on the top of his head really hard. The guy went straight down and flipped out into the road. The next parade group behind this whole scene were some guys in Corvettes with maids and the Queen sitting on the backs. The next Corvette guy sees the whole thing takes off down the road and rolls over the guys legs. The whole crowd cheers wildly so he backs over his legs again...cops pick the unconcious dude up under the shoulders and drag him off the road. Don't know what ever became of him....
Then, my family had a wreck on the way home that day where we got hit broadside by a dude on a motorcycle with no shirt or helmet on.. My Uncle the Priest had to give the guy last rights in the middle of the road. He lived but was paralyzed....that was a very crazy Mardi Gras experience that I will never forget.

The video on here a few years back was good. I think it was a parade. Maybe Houma? Young kids an older fella. Haymakers etc.

In the 80s, on Bourbon Street, saw a dude stabbed in the gut with a large knife after a fight started between the two. People backed away during the fight and a circle formed. Police were on the scene in 30 seconds. Lots of blood and arse kicking by police ensued.

That was the fabulous Ellick parade. IIRC OT sleuths did work and identified all the participants in short order.

The big baw in Alexandria whooping those young bucks' asses. Those lil dudes must have had a ton of liquid courage to take on my man in the white sneakers from Glenmora.

Saw a spectator jump up and steal a riders drink. Spectator turns around to his buddy to go "Yeah! look at what I..." and then a full bag of beads from the second level of the float nails him the back of the head before he could finish his sentence. Out cold. Old black lady NOPD saw the whole thing and just laughed. Best instant karma I've ever personally witnessed.

At Mardi Gras probably 40 years ago with my brother and his two sons. It was colder than a witch's tit. Two nephews were about 5 and 7. They were running out grabbing beads, etc., when this large loud African lady stepped on my nephew's hand, then took his loot. I was about to go postal on her when my brother, their dad, stopped me and grinned.

In a few minutes I looked over and he was pissing all over her long coat and shoes and she never had a clue.

We moved on down a few feet and he told me that sometimes it's best not to bust someone's arse and do something a little more gentle. I suppose warm piss is rather gentle.
