either, or..... just not Tylenol.... acetaminophen and alcohol don't play well together...

Spot on. No acetaminophen after drinking...ever.

Ibuprofen and a big glass of water before bed, and some ibuprofen with breakfast will mostly kill the hangover.

This. Google Tylenol and liver problems for more info.

Also remember the immortal words of Frank Sinatra "“I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day."

If I'm at all aware before I go to bed, I'll drink as much water as possible and take some kind of pain reliever before bed. The next morning after some more water and a BC powder I'm usually good to go.

Before bed is the key though. Nothing but an IV in the morning is going to save you the next day if you don't. Just hope to sleep through it.

The problem is that ibuprofen is more likely to be a stomach irritant. I tend to get picky the next day if I have a really bad hangover.

So I choose to weigh accute vs potential chronic effects. Your liver is pretty resilient if you don't constantly abuse it.

Wake up early, skip coffee, ibuprofen, water, and do something physical, solid breakfast to follow. You'll feel like crap doing it all, but after an hour or so you'll be good, at least that's how it is for me.

ETA: if I remember, take a couple shots of pickle juice before bed, actually the one thing I have tried that really makes a difference in how I feel the next day.
