Hi all. Please help. Where is the best place to go for a gallbladder attack that requires removal? This is acute and needs an ER. Thank you

From experience, dont let them take it out unless it is absolutely necessary. Life without it fricking sucks

And If you were in the pain I was in when mine hit, you would not be posting on a message board. Good luck

No. Go to the nearest one with a surgeon on call.

This. Do NOT go to a freestanding. Not with a diagnosed surgical condition. I believe a guy died somewhere in Texas during the peak of Covid. Unable to be transferred. He sat in a freestanding for days until his GB got gangrenous and he got septic and died.

I can’t imagine not signing my loved one out and rolling the dice in a car going to a hospital ER.

Wait, honey, I know you're in pain but I'm not sure if we should go to General, Long or Our Lady of the Lake. Let me ask the OT first. Hopefully it won't take long to get an answer.

Shiiiiit.. When your gallbladder gives out, that's the last thing you are worried about. You just want to go anywhere that can help with the pain.

Very basic surgery for a general surgeon. You never know how bad things are in there, so don’t dilly dally. Dilly Dilly.

Had mine done at The General on Bleubonnet. Dr Tabor. Highly recommend. Keep in mind that Woman’s Hospital does treat men as well as women.

For an outpatient sure

For somebody with an acutely inflamed gallbladder it can turn into a mess.

I have to have a HIDA scan done Tuesday to see if mine has to be removed or not. Been having a dull pain for months now. Ultrasound found sludge but no stones. St. Tammany Hospital.
