Pit bull ftw.
Short hair so no grooming. Quiet, very laid back, good with kids, low maintenance dogs.

I have a half beagle half daschound. She doesn't shed, only barks when someone is at the door, fun to play with and she likes to sit on your lap and be pet, she doesn't need to be groomed, she's big enough to jump on the bed, not tall enough to pull stuff of the counter and my son can play a little rough with her without hurting her (tug of war and some retrieving) and I think she's a beautiful dog. We got her as a rescue too.

I have a heeler as well. Great dogs, but high energy and shed a ton.

Got my mom an italian greyhound a few years ago. Great small dog. I like bigger dogs but she has some character

I love a GSD. For my money hard to beat. Just know the vacuum will have to be run at least once a day.

There is no such thing as the best dog for a pet. The answer is the one you are very familiar with, can afford and raise as a pet

My French mastiff is really good with my year and half son, and is a great guard dog but is really hard headed. He knows many commands but loves to do his own thing and test the limits daily. Definitely not the best dog I've owned. I'd probably say go golden retreiver, but I've never owned one.

I want a French Mastiff for our next dog once our lab passes away(poor girl is 13 now). How does your Mastiff get along with other dogs? We have a Old English Bulldog that has a alpha complex. It took awhile for me to "break his spirit" and I am the only one he submits to. Not sure I can handle two dogs like this at once lol.

Have always had Labs. Just lost a 12 year old lab and rescued a Great Pyr/Red Heeler mix to help with our other old lab. This dog is gonna be a good one

There are so many good dog breeds but it really depends on what you are looking for. Laid back, energetic, lazy, minimal health issues, needs significant training, size etc.

Rescue Rat Terrier. Gets outside and turns into a freak running around - tons of energy - loves to play. Inside, great lapdog that loves to watch tv with ya on the couch.

they are basically couch potatoes until you take them outside and let them run and then they are basically the fastest dog in existence.

I see your whippet and raise you a retired greyhound. In both departments. Coach potato and speed, but I've never ever seen a dog of any breed stay within 10 feet of her when she opens it up. She teases dogs in the park just to get them to chase her. Then she's gone.

At the same time she will also sleep for 20 hours a day.

I just put down a $750 reservation (VDay present) for a AKC registered Vizsla for me and my girlfriend. A medium sized pointer breed originally from Hungary. I've never owned one, but as I understand it they are incredible smart and trainable, along with elite athleticism. With loads of personality. Looking for side kick for the 3 year old retired greyhound.

Vizsla example:

She hasn't even been born yet, but it'll be 8 weeks after birth. So likely May.
