Yeah - for a change, I was an early adopter of 4k - price has not dropped all that much. I'm kind of watching for Mrs. Midnight to replace or supplement a FOURTEEN year old Dell Monitor that has just been a champ.

Any good deals on a gaming laptop or PC? It's what my son wants for Christmas and I have no clue what's decent or not.

Damn that is a champ. My mom's 12 year old HP printer finally died the other day. I bought it for her way back when paid like $600 for it all in one scanner/copier/fax. Pre USB , had to special order ink for it.
Got her a new one for Christmas $69 at Best Buy, probably will be lucky to get a year out of it.

Ancestry and 23andme are having huge sales.
My girlfriend (no pics) has a very fricked up family and has always wanted to know more about her background.
I considered 23andme, but I don't want her to find out that she has a high risk of late-onset Alzheimer's right after Christmas. I hear ancestry is better for the non-medical stuff.

Does he use Steam to play games ? My son does I bought him a an AlienWare Alpha last year. Great little machine he loves it.

They have several different models, I did a LOT of research last year before buying one and everything I read said that there really wasn't enough performance advantage to justify spending the extra money to upgrade to the i7, from even the i3, which is the one I bought. Since buying it he's switched to a SSD and added memory so it now has 16 GB , but even right out of the box it ran every game he had, including Fallout 4 , flawlessly. It comes with Windows 8 , and a free upgrade to 10, great little machine built for gamers.

Find a machine that has an i5 (Quad-Core), 8GB of RAM, and a dedicated GPU (nVidia).
Typically those can be had right now for ~500-700 range.
An i7 is not a need for most games still do not take advantage of it.
Something with an SSD instead of a spinny drive will cost you a little more but worth the investment for game loading and post start up speed.

I need a really good main TV to replace the one that was just stolen, so let me know what you see. Preferably 600.00 or less since I don't know what insurance is going to pay on the stolen one yet. Would like it to be around 55".
