With the exception of Australia, that's a lot of cold weather and white people.

So?

I am not fricking living in Europe. The only thing that has stabilized that region the past 2000 years is the US putting military bases every where.

I'm down with Iceland. I hate humid southeastern weather we have.

when your skin cracks open and you develop all kinds of dry climate illnesses you'll be wishing you had a little of that humidity back.

..or you just planning to drag that Walgreens humidifier you bought back in the States around everywhere you go?

Switzerland is possibly the best nation in the world.
Chile isn’t bad. Ireland.

As far as tax freedom. Ireland and Switzerland are great. Portugal is another destination my wife and I are looking to.

A lot of Swedes have retired to Portugal, especially Porto which is a great town. The weather is the main reason the swedes go there. Spain would be another nice weather option. My personal favorite would be the Netherlands which finished #11, but the weather sucks in Holland... So a summer house there and a winter house in Portugal or Spain.

Iceland

I lived there two years. Only thing green is the fricking moss growing on the frozen tundra. It’s pitch black an entire month during winter, leading to real bad cabin fever. Whiteout blizzards so bad you can’t see a foot ahead. North Atlantic wind constantly blowing at 30-50 knots, which stacks and packs 5 feet of snow and ice up against the side of your car. Some type of precipitation about 300 days out of the year...rain, snow, sleet, that shitty foggy misty overcast weather all the time. I think in two years we hit 60 degrees twice. Jesus it was cold.

When it is a clear and sunny day, it’s usually ridiculously windy where you need to install a strap on your car door it’ll fold over when you try to open it. Called it getting the “Keflavik Crease”.

Everything is expensive because everything is imported. Always cold. Always wet/damp. Wind always howling. It’s work just to go get groceries. There’s only two towns: Rekyjavik and Keflavik. You see and do everything in a month. Seeing glaciers and hot springs and lava is cool at first, but after you’re like, “OK, anything else?”

Only people who watch Discovery Channel think Iceland would be a nice place to live.

Iceland was a really great place to visit. But yeah, I couldn’t imagine living there.

Also, fermented shark is fricking gross.

Maybe on the med coast or Andalusia.

The center of the country is hotter than balls in the summer.

Retire Iceland -screw that.I spent a year there with the Navy.Summers are great but there is only so much to do.
Winters are miserable, cold and rain unless it was snowing.Wouldn’t see the sun for months.
Friend of mine retired in Ecuador,he likes it and says it’s very affordable.

I'm a fan of Belize.

Tropics, low cost of living, people are friendly, and English is the official language.
