Kenmore is decent.

LG is also questionable as far as quality.
Kenmore is going o be a private labelled version of Whirlpool for top load washers and matching dryers.
LG for front load washers and stackable dryers.

Whirlpool/Maytag is one company. I'll take their stuff hands down over others.

I just gave the Maytag Neptune set I bought in 1998 to my b-i-l, still going strong. Some repairs in the first few years, smooth sailing since. I only gave em up because the house I just bought came with a new Maytag set. I prefer the older one. But the new one is halfway okay

Whirlpool. Either get a top load washer with a full size agitator or a front load washer that spins like the laundromat versions. If the clothes don't move or get slapped around, they will NOT get clean.

Funny timing for this thread.
My LG Dryer that ive had now for 7 years just started spinning whenever the door is shut. Not turned on or anything and not drying. But if the door shut the machine just tumbles until its unplugged or door is opened. Then my wife sent me a video this morning of it non stop tumbling WITH THE DOOR open.
Not much luck looking online. Any ideas?

Weird. I would start with the door switch. But that's strange as hell.

PS I'm no Napoleon btw. Just a guy who likes to fix stuff. He's the actual expert.

Maytag is a reliable brand, but it takes 2 hours to wash a load of clothes. Drying, no problems. GE takes approx. 30 minutes to wash, but not as reliable or cost as much. Maytag has a digital timer that has to go thru its cycles and it takes a while to do it. GE motor has a digital cycler on it and will go out often. Motor costs around 2fifty

I went Electrolux for both a few years ago and I like them.

I believe only major brand building in USA if that's important to you
Despite being owned by a Chinese company, GE appliances are mad in the USA. Washers and dryers are made in Louisville, Ky.

The Speed Queen stuff I read is that they last forever but just don't clean particularly well.

What do you recommend for home use?

I bought a Samsung set a few years ago. I haven’t had any issues thus far and I don’t have any complaints about how well the agitator-less washer cleans.
I remember reading a lot about how Speedqueens were no longer what they used to be. They were adopting more of the energy and water efficiency measures that people complain about.

We have Maytag Bravos XL washer and dryer. Very good. Very quiet and ton of capacity.
This is what we have. I think they are about 12 years old, but work great.

Glad to hearvtou havent had issues with your Samsungs. No issue with my washer but the dryer had to have the circuit panel replaced the first year and I had to replace the drum belt and rollers. Never again for me.

where do you read that?
They may have seen it in the Consumer Reports appliance reliability report from a year or so ago. They said the Speed Queens were very reliable but were just okay when it came to cleaning.
You can probably find it in a library.
