ZZ Top in 1974 was as bad arse as they come. Opening act was .38 Special and Brownsville Station.

No frills, just rock.

I have to disagree with you. I do agree with you on Garth but I have also seen Kenney Chesney, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley and many others that put on good shows. What I have found though is all of them are much better in smaller venues

Best shows:

1) Mars Volta - HOB, NOLA 2008
2) All Them Witches - Gasa Gasa NOLA 2017
3) Ian Moore - Grant Street Dance Hall, Laffy, 1999
4) Alice In Chains - Sanger NOLA 2018
5) Queens of the Stone Age - Same as 4

Worst Show:

I made the mistake of going to the Jay-Z/50 Cent/Fabulous show in 2002 or 2003. Can't remember. So horrible.

Line took hours to get in for security, so missed half the concert.

The "artists" sang only parts of a song before moving to the next one. I was used to actual bands playing FULL songs.

The demographics of the show were challenging in that, because we were outnumbered 10:1, I got cussed at often, spit on twice, robbed, and then hit with a swinging towel during the show often.

I went with three women, all of which were groped numerous times without consent. It was disgusting. Left early and were called "racists" for leaving.

Haven't listed to another rap artist since. frick that shite.

I saw The Fixx play the Varsity a couple years

When I was in HS (probably 91 or 92) a buddy of mine won a contest on the radio where The Fixx went to his house and played a small acoustic set. He was allowed to invite a limited number of guests and I was one.

I got to meet the band and they signed their set list for me. I still have it somewhere.

I couldn't make the Varsity show a couple years ago, but I wanted to go. Been listening to them since that day, obvs.

I've been trying to think of the best: Kansas at Hirsch in Shreveport around '76 was great, Rod Stewart was surprisingly good, Journey. Queen in '79 - eeh.

Seen this guy mentioned twice now. What's a James Taylor show like?

Very boring. No energy.

The music and show would be good in a concert hall or a small venue. But he’s dumb for trying to sell out arenas. The huge area sucks any semblance of life out of the show. His boring personality and no energy is a recipe for disaster.

The best was probably Brooks & Dunn, when Ronny performed 'Believe' before it had been released. It moved me to tears.

We saw Brooks and Dunn after "Believe" was released---it was their finale, with a big choir on stage, lots of special effects and it was AMAZING!!!!!! Gave me chills and moving beyond belief. They put on one of the best shows I've ever seen.

My all time favorite though is the several times I've seen The Mavericks perform. They are ALWAYS sold out. And always fantastic! My favorites of all time!

Worst---hmmm can't think of any I really didn't enjoy

Garth Brooks, Billy Joel, and Bruce Springsteen were great.

Beastie Boys in 86 were lousy.
