In the past I would say LaGuardia followed by Kansas City, but both of those airports got major renovations that made them significantly better. Now I would say O'Hare is my least favorite.
Indy was probably the best one I've flown out of.

fricking this.
They renno like 70% of the airport and still keep the baggage claim and rental cars outdated with horrible signage. Oh and there are two rental car pickups. You have to guess which one to go to since it's not on the Avis reservation.
And there are 4 segregated terminals, none with impressive food options. The Admiral's club is overcrowded and tiny, divided on two floors.

O'Hare is terrible, but they are spending billions to update it. But right now it's horrible.
Philadelphia sucks too.

I have TSA precheck and missed a flight (along with 40 other people on my flight), because the precheck line took 1.5 hours, which is utterly ridiculous. The TSA precheck lines at other airports usually take 5-15 mins.
I've heard that going through TSA on the international side is quicker.

Been to 100+. Obviously can’t remember all. But, some that standout in various ways:
Most improved international - Frankfurt: used to need 2+ hrs to connect due to lack of gates, multiple security check points, etc. Now, extremely efficient.
Most improved domestic - LGA: simply amazing compared to the old LGA. Honorable mention to Memphis for improved dining options, tech enhanced seats with cordless phone chargers, etc.
Biggest PITA to get to gate - JFK: takes forever to navigate through neighborhoods, security always long, third world terminals,
Biggest PITA to get thru immigration - tie between O’Hare and Dulles…both suck incredibly bad.
Worst first impression of city upon exiting - Houston Hobby: razor wire on apartment fences and barred doors sure make a statement.
Airport I would hate to get stuck in - Copenhagen…miserable. Also KC (but it’s been years)…that setup of just a few gates for each security checkpoint sucked and was extremely limiting for dining/drinking options.
Airport I wouldn’t mind getting stuck in - Houston Intercontinental: tons of great dining options.
Some that aren’t as bad as people say - CDG. It’s far from the city center, but, security always a breeze and good dining options. Athens also not as bad as reputation.
Worst international - tie between Hamburg and Milan. Hamburg security is most painful anywhere and Milan is just downright confusing in an Italian way. Marseilles sucks too…do not understand how an airport in Provence has no wine bar or decent food.
Best international - Heathrow…yes Heathrow. So efficient if you know how to navigate. Honorable mentions to Amsterdam and San Jose/Cabo.
Best domestic - tough one but probably Phoenix Sky Harbor. Proximity to city center, ease of security, ease of immigration, ease of passenger pickup, dining options, etc. Honorable mention to Salt Lake City.
Worst domestic - EASILY DFW. In addition to the numerous other comments, I’ve never been to an airport that so frequently goes to ground stops WELL before storms approach, then waits out the storm, and then has monumental delays after storm passes. It’s insane.

Atlanta is fine to connect out of but terrible to fly into and out of in my opinion. Literally 1/100 people that work there are polite or actually would like to help you. Almost purposely rude. Had one of the biggest cluster f's just last night flying into ATL.

feel like Atlanta and DFW are opposites
Agreed. Getting to Atlanta via land without using MARTA sucks pretty hard. But, the airport itself is laid out beautifully, and you can get wherever you need to go rather quickly.
DFW is great as an end-point destination. It sucks as a transfer hub, because it was laid out by kids with crayons.
I used to hate ORD, but I got used to it, and can navigate it well now. I don't like it as a transfer hub, but it's easy to get to ground transportation without a lot of issues.
LaGuardia sucks pretty hard at everything. DIA is ostentatiously large for no discernable reason. It's one of thr only airports I've actually had to ask for assistance to figure out where I'm going.
DCA/Reagan is my favorite because of how orderly and clean it is.

I really like mid sized airports like Portland, Dallas Love, Fort Lauderdale, New Orleans, Houston Hobby.
DFW is nice for me because I live in Dallas, but can definitely understand the hate for connections there.
I don't think this one has been mentioned but being hungover at the Santa Fe NM airport was a pretty miserable experience. No restaurants, just a vending machine and it was broken.

I think it's great for connections, but I'm not a fan of funneling everyone through the same security then dispersing them to different terminals. Same as Denver IIRC. DFW you can be at your gate within minutes of being dropped off... not possible at ATL

I hate Denver - although went through it last week and looks like construction has changed it for the better for now.
my main complaint about Denver is that is BFE. I have a coworker there and it's almost a 50 mile round trip.

In my experience Chicago worst and Atlanta best. I am flying to Seattle next month so I am curious. Though I haven't been through I heard Detroit is pretty awesome.

Seconded, my opinion is probably screwed. Used to have to go at least twice a year for training there. Always had a 5ish pm flight home, but had to check out of the hotel at noon so had to spend a couple of hours there waiting to board.
Kids everywhere from Disney making security a mess, shitty food options, those god awful tram things that make the only place you can be your terminal, etc.
I did see two Wendy’s employees get in a fist fight that included one launching himself over the counter after the other one though, so not all bad.

It’s not too bad, but a lot of the baggage area is under construction so it’s narrow areas and congested around there. The rest is fine
