Def made the right call. It's one thing to be hit by a storm in the US it's another to be hit in a third world country. Like someone said trying to get out after the storm hits would be a serious issue. I have rode out several big storms on the Louisiana coast and it is no fun. I couldn't imagine doing it in Jamaica.
I would also reach out to who you booked with and see about getting some money back due to the resort about to be hit by a major hurricane.

You did the right thing. Now you better hope that storm levels Jamaica or else you’ll never hear the end of how you ruined the honeymoon for no reason
He has a built in excuse. "Those assholes on the OT convinced me it was gonna be Armageddon and I was gonna have to sell your arse for hot pockets and give handies just to get to the airport."

American opened up flight to Miami this evening. Much to my wife's dismay I booked that flight and we will be continuing our honeymoon in Miami
Good work, staying there with options open to leave would have been insane

Rent a car and drive down to the keys.

Consider this the first major decision you’ve made to protect your family. Well done. Truly glad y’all got out of there.
Spoiler - any credit for getting this major decision right will be negated by getting some trivial decision wrong.

Yeah, I would definitely drive down to the keys for at least a day or two. The drive is great

How dare you? Maybe she was looking forward to a once-in-a-lifetime windsurfing adventure.

Then he should leave her there.

Maybe he should have left her at the altar but it's too late now.

And purchase a hefty life insurance policy before storm.
Are there any waiting periods on a life insurance policy if someone dies in a hurricane a few days after purchasing?

Lowe’s Miami Beach
Not sure how happy his wife will be with that choice, but he can pick up some Gorilla Glue and Flex Seal while he's there. Can never have too much of that on hand.

Check out the Setai if it is in your price range. I stayed at the Lowe’s a year ago and I would not recommend it for a honeymoon. Lot’s of screaming kids running around. even in the bar area
