That’s because if the measure passes, Las Vegas-based Tropicana Entertainment, which owns the Belle of Baton Rouge near the Mississippi River Bridge, has said it will invest heavily in upgrading and enhancing its 22-year-old facility.

And your point that the casinos will promise the moon to get there way is spot on.
Their goal is to get as many of those slot machines up and running, and with butts in their seats. After that they'll tell you anything you want to hear.

It just seems like it is. The actual ‘gaming floor’ is on barges that are permantely moored so it appears to be on land but it is legal under the law. Laberge does the same thing in LC.

Can someone with more casino knowledge than me explain how there are terrestrial casinos in LA? Like what about Lauberge? Does part of it sit on water? Honestly never been there before

Once you can’t smoke inside casinos anymore, on June 1st, the Belle and Hollywood are going to drive off, or sink.
Those places are absolute shitholes. Two of the worst casinos I’ve ever been to.

Is the Edwards clan gonna sell pills out of their casino too?

You know how you can tell when casino people are full of shite? When they pretend to care about anything that doesn’t directly involve people gambling. Family venues don’t contribute to gaming. Vegas knows that after the failed “family friendly” experiment of the 90’s and the corporations know that.

It's an Indian owned casino as is one in Kinder, one in St. Mary's parish and I think one other.
Choctaw Pines in Grant Parish.

I thought the casinos on the ms river here in MS were shitty until I stayed at the Belle one weekend for a MSU-LSU game.
Man what a shithole

Belle and Hollywood need to do something once you disallow smoking in Casinos. I'm happy to see some sign of Belle/Tropicana trying to improve to compete with L'auberge, even if dangling the legislative carrot is all BS.
I'd rather them compete than pay for advertising whining about a new casino, like they did when L'auberge was going for the permit.

quote:all other casinos are technically on floating vessels. Lauberge BR is a barge sitting on piles designed to lift off the piles if the river were to get high enough. Funny think is for the barge to lift off the piles the river would have to overtop the levee. I believe it is a foot or 2 over the height of the levee.
Like what about Lauberge? Does part of it sit on water? Honestly never been there before

The law was an attempt to control where a casino could go. They didn't want casinos to be able to just be built anywhere.
