Most of them are women who spend all their time with other women and annoying kids. It's the same with moms.
For the worst offenders (moms or teachers who are convinced nobody has it worse than they do), I think you'd find they are probably only talking to other moms and teachers, and hence, they lose touch with the reality that practically everyone works long hours, gets stressed, etc.

16 chapters, but yeah. My main adjustments from year to year are to accommodate changes in state testing. I can teach my material in my sleep and do very little grading papers at home. I'm 22 years in, though. There's some pretty heavy lifting on the front side of the career, as far as preparation. The most important thing is classroom management. I don't care how good of a teacher you may be, if you can't manage your class and the kids' behavior, you're not teaching anything.

I swear you guys love to act hard in topics like this. Teaching today isn't easy. It's not cheap. It's not luxurious and it's not the same year to year.

The OT just likes these topics because it's the kind of shite that you can only talk about with other dudes, and because the observations are funny.
We all know teaching isn't glamorous and that in many ways it isn't easy.

She is rich if she stays for retirement. Do a PV analysis of 80% of her salary at age 55 or so and figure she will live to 80 and see what you come up with. You will be surprised how much that retirement is worth.

I don't think I ever had a teacher actually teach me anything, it's a waste of time...but the kids have to go somewhere.

You learn by reading and doing for yourself. At best they're inspiration.
