I got into some on April 1st and I’m still itching like crazy. I just turned 60 and this is the longest I’ve ever had to deal with it. I got a steroid shot that helped a little. I didn’t think I really got that much on me.

As an amateur botanist I've had 3 people tell me they were not allergic to it and to prove it they rubbed their arms or hands with it. All 3 got terrible rashes. My advice is if you're not allergic to it, never tell anyone.

Was never allergic to it. Then thought I was immune so I started handling it a lot. Became allergic, now it’s really bad if I’m around it. Weird how that happens.

A friend of mine who wasn't allergic burned some in the back yard and it damn near killed him.

Same here. Stayed in woods as a teenager. Hunting, riding dirt bikes, burying bodies, ect. Wasn’t until I cut and burned some bushes full of poison ivy on the edge of my property in my 30s. Inhaled smoke and it came out everywhere. Bad. Now I stay away from it.

Wish my poison ivy allergy would hurry up and change because when I get it it’s fricking miserable.

Knew a guy that ate himself into a peanut allergy from m&m habit

If that were the case half the kids I went to school with in the late 70’s would be allergic to peanuts because most of them would eat a peanut butter sandwich everyday for lunch when we were in middle school.

My mother had a cousin who was in the navy and was on a ship out to sea, his mother, who had poison ivy rash at the time, wrote him a letter and he broke out in a rash after handling the letter. That stuff is no fun when allergic to it.

I never had it as a little kid but after high school I got a job with the forest service on a survey crew. I had a small cut on my arm and I guess that’s how my allergies started by getting in that cut. I get it anytime I contact it now, mostly on my forearms and hands. Running hot water on helps relieve the itching somewhat.

Never gotten the big blisters, but was about 30 years old cleaning up hurricane damage when I got patches of small red bumps on my legs. That was the first time ever after a lifetime of playing outdoors.

Still have minor scarring that isn't visible, but can feel it more than a decade later.

I got more allergic to it in my 40s. Get that paste that you rub into your skin to remove the traces of oil.

Just go to the doc and get the steroid shot
Yes, out of nowhere I became hyper sensitive to poison ivy or oak. The ONLY thing that works for me anymore and I go right to the the clinic at the first sign I got some poison oak or ivy on me to get a shot and and a few days of steroid pills.

Yes.
As a kid, I played in it without trouble. I hit 50 and the slightest touch will cause what look like 3rd degree burns and several days of misery.
Be careful!

Yes, happened to me last year when I was 40. Had no clue what it was until a few days in. Luckily it was only 2 small areas.

I’ve spent my entire life in the woods and never had any issues with poison ivy but got it bad for the 1st time at 25. I just think I had never come in contact with it or developed on allergy once I got into my 20’s.

I’ve had it bad a few times in my life and a couple of years ago I got it and left the country and thought it would be fine without steroids.

shite ended up getting nasty as frick
