JP is more than just Metry though.
And again, JP wasn't a cow town.

There is a good street grid in the east. Close to a lot of big employers.
I disagree. Though it may appear to be a nice rectangular grid with parallel and perpendicular streets intersecting at 90-degree angles, the only streets that really offer access to and from the various neighborhoods in the East are the main arteries (Downman, Mayo, Crowder, Read, Bundy, Wright, Bullard, Hayne, Lake Forest, and Chef). Also, none of these arteries offers a "town center" per se, in which the surrounding area spurns natural development. Sure, there are strip malls with surface parking lots, but those types of properties aren't the kind of anchors that define a city and make it stand out from the rest.

Every time I see or post that here I think about the astronomical odds of the one time you pull off to a secluded spot to shite in the bushes the fricking google streetview car drives by and takes a picture. You probably have a better chance of an asteroid landing on you.

I’d be more worried about game cameras. Furckin cameras everywhere now even in the woods.

With all of its problems, NOLA East is still a top 3 economic powerhouse for the region, others being NOLA FQ/CBD and the Elmwood area.
NOLA East major employers: UPS, Dupuy, Gypsum, KNEW, Kearney, Folgers, Crescent Crown, CSX, Dixie Brewery, Boh Brothers, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Vivace, Dupre, Meyers, Haynes, Air Products, Woodward, FedEx Freight, Textron Marine, and more

Think you can take Dixie brewery off that list. I think the narrator is Jimmy jr from Bob’s burgers he’s hard to listen to.

Those abandoned areas of N. O. East still have one valid use…

Interesting, but long! Thanks for the link.

I still don’t understand why the east declined so fast but Jefferson didn’t.
One is tied to NOLA city government and one isn’t… if they ever do make N.O. East its own city or parish things will improve, slowly

Beaver is a racist...he claims blacks moved east and brought deep poverty which ended the dream of an upper class white suburb.

Unfortunately, JP is turning into a 3rd world country (look at David Drive) and the entirety of Kenner, and starting to catch up with Nola in other areas.
