This is what I would do when I was working. Going sit in the woods and listening to nature while you’re hunting is the best stress relief I can think of

In other words, you sub everything out and sit back and bitch all day about schedule delays because you have no clue about the project scope. You’re that guy.

I hate how almost everyone is an adult child. There's so few mature adults left in the world. So many egos you need to tiptoe around in upper management because they're children in adult bodies.

I'm a plant baw, but I only had around 500 hrs of OT last year. Not a flex though. Id kill for a 40hr/wk office job.

I think it's just this site. I deal with operators, welders, and electricians all the time and never see the cringe shite I read on here in real life.

Guys talking shite on the internet? Who would have thought….. log off and wash your panties.

Not a plant baw but I'd gladly work an extra 1000hrs per year for straight pay. My company offers OT, but I'm lucky to get a couple days every few months

Life is too short for that shite. Just my opinion. Once you reach a certain level of income, all that extra time a work is just wasting precious time to actually live

You must be ornery from all that shift work.
You were pretty active in that Plant baw thread recently. It’s all in good fun.

If your work can do without you for a month, then you aren’t needed. I’m all for taking your time off, but you aren’t necessary if you’re not missed after 2 weeks.

Nah, not at all. I’ve been off most of December. I enjoy shift work. Been doing it for over 20 years. Got a great family that doesn’t want for anything and a great job that lets me give them whatever they need. Life’s good.

Had to? I still do it today.
Not too many men get to experience the true look of terror and admiration on someone's face like us, when we pull one out thicker and longer than theirs and plop it on the measuring table like a true prize-winning dong.
Mine is still wearing its blue bow they tied on it from last one. The blue ink is fading on it though because the whole thing has turned blue. Hurts a little, but that's the hard life of a champion.

That’s great. This board shits on every profession but somehow shift work and plant operators can’t take any jabbing.

Hahahaha sure, since I was the first boots on the ground employee on this project, created the entire Project Scope, (conception to completion plan, estimate, budget, man power allocations etc) can tell you every persons name and what they do on my projects, and deal directly with our client daily for all of our procurement, scheduling, cost, change orders, progress, etc..
But yeah i'm "that" guy. Lol good try buddy.
You also sound like the hands I used to work with who would say things along the line of "I could run this job better than those mf's in the office"
I implore you to please come do so, I'd love nothing more than to slow down the rapid accumulation of grey hairs that's happening. Stay salty my friend.

Ehhh, "vacation" isn't mutually exclusive to being completely absent. In theory, yes I'm out of office, but still review reports and approve daily cost and tasks for a portion of my day on vacation.
Also, if you haven't set up your subordinates to succeed, even without having to rely on you, then you're setting your project and team up to fail. Too many managers are so job scared that they won't help the next man succeed, but if they succeed then we all do well.

Yes sir, one of my favorite places to be.
It was a great reset and self-reflection period.
It also helps I was fortunate enough to kill a beautiful typical 9, a couple does, a few hogs, and a couple javelina. Lol
