Seems like a good way to get stricter gun laws. frick this guy

Seems like a great way to give a reality check to those who really believe the cops won’t violate your rights and come get your guns when ordered to.

I agree with you but unfortunately that's not the way it'll go in this country. shite like this will just lead to states passing stricter gun laws which means jackasses like this will ruin it for the rest of us who would like to be able to open carry without making a big scene

Open carrying in a public place is stupid, and guys like him are why the rest of us are always worried about stupid new restrictions.

ETA: For the record, I’m not saying it should be illegal; I just think it’s stupid, but do what you want. Doesn’t really bother me.

Actually it doesn’t matter what you do, at all. The plans has been in the works for decades. Being friendly, complying, a good citizen who is respectful and thoughtful matter not.

Matters not, those in charge of enforcing the law are obligated to know the law in its entirety.

LOL out loud.

This is incredibly naive and unrealistic. There’s not a single person in any state that “knows” the law in its “entirety.”

I used to think having an AR out in public wouldn’t be possible. Now they have the ones that can fold up and fit into a backpack. Pretty slick, and something I might consider.

So I suppose cops are just supposed to respond to random calls and arrest people in response to said calls regardless of statute or violation?

Regardless of whether or not a crime has been committed?

Get a fricking grip man.

It’s a pretty stupid weapon to have for personal defense outside when in all likelihood if you need to protect yourself in public it will be from a close encounter where smaller guns are more practical.

Yes only the retards open carry.

And it's their choice to do so under the current laws where allowed.

Just like in this case.

Open carry is not something I choose to do regularly or I deem to be tactically prudent, regardless, it is a right in many states.

Cops don’t know all the laws in their entirety. It’s not possible to. That’s why they have a book of codes and laws in their cruisers.

You can build them to be applicable for any situation, including close encounters.

Holy fvcking straw man, how did you get there?

My point is nobody knows the law in its entirety. Of course law enforcement should have a thorough knowledge of the law. That’s not the bar you set though.

They need to know what is arrestable offense and if in doubt call their duty officer.

This case was clear cut and traveling to and from an area to fish, camp, or hunt while armed is a well known statute.

Pretending this was some obscure and unknown law is disingenuous at best.

These are overzealous cops responding to public calls and pretending to be ignorant of the law.

No, cops who think their word is actual law give cops a bad name.

The man was not breaking any laws.

I’m not defending the cops but even though he wasn’t breaking the law that doesn’t mean he wasn’t acting like an arse and giving the 2A cause a bad name. He was out there with the sole point of trying to stir shite and being provocative.

Dude your argument is feeble.

These assholes didn't know or care what the law was they just wanted to respond and detain the guy.

frick you and your semantics.

That’s not what you said though.

Laws are made with words. If you can’t understand the meaning of the words you use, you shouldn’t complain about folks not understanding the intricacies of legal statutes.

I agree that these were overzealous cops though, just to be clear.

Quit projecting.

It’s not my fault you made an incredibly idealistic nonsensical claim.
