Everyone said she would take some sort of credit for a reduction after the 2021 record. And here she is. And no one will call her out and hold her accountable on…

Homicides are up 63% since she took office.

Progressives are masters of manipulation. Of course, you need a helpful media combined with a stupid voting bloc to pull it off.

I would guess they changed either the definition of what they considered murder, decreased the area included, or are just liars.

Or, they are under reporting or changing what classifies as murder.

I guess the gangs made a big enough dent in each other's numbers that the total murders are starting to drop.

James Finn should go and stand on the corner of Plank and Evangeline on a Friday night starting at 11 PM.
I would bet his article then would sing a different tune.

Guns are expensive, how is someone living in poverty able to afford guns? And lets just say they find a gun, how are they buying bullets? Bullets aint cheap either.

They changed how “murder” is counted, right?

If you can’t find the body or can’t call a cause of death, it isn’t a murder. And BRPD specifically did no investigation in some shootings tied to this, yet EBRSO was able to find the people shot across the parish in an unincorporated area after they fled the scene.

There were 74 murders in 1993 - what happened that year?

NOLA did that. They shifted midway through the year last year to only counting actual murders. Years prior they had counted all homicides. I don't have a problem with that change, but they should have waited until this year to implement it.

That said, it didn't really matter for them. NOLA murders were up 20% last year. They finished with 265. If they had not changed the rules, that number would have been at least 13 more, as that's the number they removed when the rule change happened, and it would have increased from there.

Currently: 37 to last year's 36. On pace for 250+ again this year.

Probably turf wars over drugs, as that was around the time murders peaked in NOLA too.

They also got fed up with city-parish leadership and moved to Ascension and Livingston.

That’s not even that bad of a neighborhood by north Baton Rouge standards. And there is a DMZ a little ways up by Tony’s.

But nonetheless I want to see The Advocate move their HQ there. Or at least explain why they consolidated everything to Siegen 20 years ago and not north Baton Rouge.

What a bullshite flex. This is like a sale at a furniture store. Double the price and then give a 20 percent discount.

2017 Homicides - 124 (Broome takes office)

So, the trick to reducing murder is to get all your murdering done the year before?
