How many "unclassified" deaths are among those dozens of bodies found in NOLA? Great way to scam the murder count.

Obviously, a larger caliber handgun should have been used.

This is like watching the Wire come to Baton Rouge.

Make homicides into accidental overdoses. And majors become colonels.

I hope this has been reflected in the SG vs BR murder competition thread.

The coroner is an elected position. The mayor can't do shite to him. He can tell her to get her incompetent worthless arse out of his face and go frick herself, just like the sheriff can.

Then he has to answer how the frick his office missed a gunshot wound to the chest. That's just goddamned inexcusable.

Actual quote from the victims sister:

"This brought in our new year with a bang," Edwards said. "Now we're just hoping for justice."

Fill me in please... but I thought when people overdosed they foamed at the mouth and thrashed. Do they also excrete large amounts of blood??

That's what the coroner's spokescritter in the article claims.

I know that OD’s can have seizures and that can cause people to bite their tongue or inside of mouth and bleed. I am not aware of other sources of bleeding from OD though.

Relatives reported finding "blood everywhere" in the living room and soaked through Ross' clothes when they discovered his body.

quote:

Shane Evans, chief of investigations for the East Baton Rouge Coroner's Office, said he couldn't comment on the specifics of this investigation but noted that it's not uncommon to find blood at an overdose scene because there's often some discharge from the person's nose and mouth.

quote:

Detectives returned to the scene the next day to explain their mistake to Ross' relatives and collect additional evidence, but Edwards said that was after the scene had been contaminated: blood wiped up and furniture rearranged.

quote:

Ross' sister said she can't help but wonder whether investigators assumed his death was drug related when they saw the neighborhood where he was killed — a series of residential streets off Plank Road whose residents have long complained of drug activity.

The Clinton medical examiner Fahmy Malak would be proud. He ruled a decapitated person as a suicide once.

Is it a coincidence that the coroner is on a crusade about the opioid crisis?
