Baton Rouge is rapidly becoming an interesting barometer/microcosm of the failings of America on display for the world.
Rarely do state capitals fail to urban decay as politicians and lobbyists spend significant time in these cities.
I can really only point to Jackson, MS and maybe Hartford, CT as comparable shiteholes, but Baton Rouge has the major flagship university.
BR will lose approx 25% of its geographical footprint and over 50% of its tax revenue once St. George is fully established.
As future demographics of the new BR will only elect leadership on skin color and higher levels of wokeness, all bets are off for the future of the city.
I could see other areas close to St George wanting to be annexed up to future conservative legislatures wanting to move the Louisiana state Capital away from a another failed American urban experiment.
LSUs leadership is lock step with Broome and LSU has a cloudy future as well once the inevitable crime hits campus more frequently.

That's the street right under the North Blvd overpass. Lot of downtown workers take that road daily (inb4 coulda been them), but that neighborhood down there always looks sketchy.
In fact, wasn't the entire street diet concept to try to steer people towards taking North Blvd everywhere instead of Govt? Not that Govt is much better in parts.

It's kind of like Gardere. I drive down it relatively often but I don't go down any side streets.

Thought of that, but Montgomery at approx 40 murders this year, down from around 70 last year. That doesn’t happen if mayor and police chief full on woke.
East Chase area is really nice development as well, can’t point to anything like that currently in BR or Jackson city limits.

That’s close to where a serial killer was operating a few years back. A guy with a cross tattooed on his forehead was killing homeless people under the bridge area of North Boulevard.

The Chief has already apologized to the families for the slow response by the police department which allowed 2 others to be shot.

Government is an interesting street. Its like you go three blocks and its a bad area, the next two blocks is in a good area, the next block is not a good area then the next two blocks is a good area.
