The developer of Beale St came to Shreveport for the same purpose. Developed the Red River District which was successful for about 6 months, then culture decided to visit and now it's a ghost town. 50 is thinking about giving it another go.

If you haven’t noticed, the water level of the river in BR fluctuates tremendously with the seasons. It would be very difficult to build out the waterfront.

BR is never going to be a tourist destination, maybe could induce people to stay the night on the way to somewhere else but you are competing with NO for that.

If you’ve ever to driven past the Soccer Complex on Burbank during a tournament, you can see that these big tournaments can be big business. For s as little investment you can get folks into EBR.
Baseball, softball and basketball could do the same.

I had one of the funnest nights of my life on a random Saturday night visiting the RRD with some friends who attended LSUHSC Shreveport back in 2012, I went back like a year and a half later and it was completely dead.

I know its not the same scale as BR, but the hotels and restaurants in Broussard and Youngsville stay packed during baseball and even soccer season. Kind of makes me jealous Lafayette didn't so the same.

Not all tourists are heavy drinkers. New Orleans is it's own scene. Not many kid attractions outside of the aquarium and the zoo. You can find a zoo in almost any city.
If BR could focus on being a family destination, they could lock in that market.

The new PMAC is a good option. Only problem is most concert promoters prefer NOLA or Lafayette at the moment. We will need to make a very compelling offer to pull concerts.
I don’t think the River Center does a good enough job booking events. They seem to be on cruise control and not driving their own growth through new opportunities
