I'm confused. Are we not supposed to engage in any commercial real estate that may have oppressed people at some point in time?

That seems like an awful waste

Can't find a good image of the 1853 latourette map but I can see something is there and I have a feeling that statement isn't accurate.

They wouldn't come in here like a bull in a china shop.

They'd want to keep a low profile, pretend to be part of the group, and use that to say "I pretended to be one of them, then I said this and they said this. Look how horrible the are."

Yes and all of it bothers me, but the way they seem to be celebrating this home and centering the neighborhood around it and making it a clubhouse for the rich- it really disturbs me
well if she wants to be disturbed by it that's her prerogative

I think she's overthinking a lot of this in 2017 It's a great piece of property and that's it

Are you serious? I know several southern black dudes who despise African Immigrants who came here from wealthy families to get educated in the states and so on.

Yes, serious. So southern blacks don't like Africans because they sold their ancestors? Is this true?

The last part is. Africans started the African slave trade.

I think they don't like them because of how well they articulate the English language rather quickly

FIFY.

It was a beautiful piece of property. It will now be ruined via the ugly cookie cutter houses that will surround it.

It really is a shame...

That said, I'd have zero issue in either living in the house itself, or in a house on the property.

I think they're upset that people with their same skin tone are higher on the economic ladder.

I worked with black guys that used to tell me that one of our black Haitian coworkers wasn't really black. It's a common thought process.

the american slave trade over the course of its 200+ years is just as bad as the horrible 5-10+ year Holocaust.

and the holocaust was horrible.

I work on the weekends with a guy from Nigeria. He's here on student visa with his brother, and they absolutely HATE the "woe is me, everything is racist" attitude that they find here. These two speak 3 languages, moved 6000 miles away for an education, and work full time between 2 jobs.
