That depends on what the libs' definition of racism is this week

quote:

Prejudice plus power

How institutional-level forces work to the disadvantage of people of colour, while benefitting white people.

Patricia Bidol-Padva[1] first described racism as prejudice plus power.
Prejudice plus power is an inclusive and academic definition of axes of oppression, e.g., racism, sexism, etc., that stresses the access to institutional and cultural levels of bias that acts, systems, ideologies, and so on must possess in order to be inherently oppressive. This definition was first proposed by Patricia Bidol-Padva[1] in 1970 in her book Developing New Perspectives on Race: An Innovative Multi-media Social Studies Curriculum in Racism Awareness for the Secondary Level.[2]

Prejudice is a "preconceived opinion not based on reason or actual experience; bias, partiality."[3] Power is "the capacity to exert force on or over something or someone."[3] Unlike many layperson or dictionary definitions, this description of oppression as prejudiced opinions combined with access to power is not defined by the institutions in power, e.g., for racism:

Racism is prejudice plus power. On the basis of this definition, while all people can be prejudiced, only those who have power are really racist. African Americans, Latinos, Asians and American Indians the powerless in American society can be and often are most prejudiced toward Whites on an individual basis, but they are not racists at the structural, institutional level. Within this understanding of racism, to be a racist you have to possess two things: 1) socioeconomic power to force others to do what you desire even if they don't want to, and 2), the justification of this power abuse by an ideology of biological supremacy. Keep in mind that what often is described as racism in society today, is really nothing more than prejudice and discrimination. While a Black or Latino person, through the use of a gun and/or intimidation, can force a White person to do as he as an individual desires, this is an individual act of aggression, not a socially structured power arrangement. At present, however, only Whites have that kind of power, reinforced by a belief in an ideology of supremacy, both of which constitute the basis of racism in America today.[4]

It's the one that SS bases his life on, not to mention our local SJWs MM, GC, and KB.

Hold up man, I have a lot of respect for you.

But are you saying when a group of foreigners comes in and undercuts your wages and takes away jobs that you should just be happy about it?

Personally I didn't have as much of a problem with it. I made friends with the Mexicans after a couple weeks when he drug up and ended up learning a lot and got made an honorary Mexican. El Gringo Loco they called me.

But back to him. I didn't begrudge him his prejudices. We all come from experiences that mold us. Him not being warm to Mexicans didn't make him not a good person, or not a good worker.

If not liking every group of people you come across makes one a racist, and that makes someone a bad person, then there's a world full of bad people.

Yeah. Someone from fricking NIGERIA has a very very limited world view you just can't help yourself but to double down on your dumb shite.

Grows up in Nigeria, an ACTUAL 3rd world country. Had family members who were forced to be child soldiers and all kinds of other ACTUAL hardships. Manages to get out of there to pursue an education. Moves 6000 miles away, knowing absolutely no one but his brother. Then works his arse off while here and going to school.

Yeah. HE'S the one with a limited world view

do you actually believe the shite you say?

You have some facts to cite?

I'm sure there were some boats where half died (or more) but you don't build a business where you lose half of every cargo on each trip.

Especially considering who was running the Slave trade.

i dont think a group can be excluded from being racist...a black landlord could be racist towards greek tenants.

i do agree with the overall institutional portion of the def though.

the worst racism is the institutional kids. those systematically ruin lives

work harder. Cant laud capitalism and free trade one some areas and hate in others. Be better, be innovative, market you and your skills better, and compete.

In my experience, those most prejudice are usually the ones that rely on stereotypes, others opinions, and limited interactions to make their assumptions. Basically those making unintelligent assumptions. not very bright people

Probably already posted, but I wouldn't live anywhere near that crime infested hood. I'm living as away from Florida Street as possible. I'd rather live in Beruit than shitty part of town. 7-800k building there-LMAO

im not taking away from his plight, but youd think someone that had endured some hardship would be more understanding of the hardships of others. His hardships won't be relative to most but if he had a greater understanding of his standing as a Black African in America and how they are viewed as opposed to Native Black Americans...perhaps he would have a slightly different opinion. As far as I can tell, he's doing whatever it takes to fit it.

Its a much talked about thing amongst 2nd-3rd born generation non native-born americans to discuss how apart of "Assimilating" to american culture means hating black americans/culture and trying to distance yourself as far from them as possible in an attempt to "fit" in.

Says a lot more about what it presumably takes to "fit" in as opposed to black americans/their history here

For example....

So you think the civil rights act of 1964 just abolished all racists and lil George wall aces off the planet? All of the trashy POS and racist state senators and reps, who vehemently fought integration and installed their trashy and unamerican views in their children, just stopped being racist because the law said say?

or did they find other non explicit ways to institute their views?

I think he's saying that those folks from Africa have seen real plight that causes "American plight" to look trivial and complaints of it childish and petulant.
