Subtle “I run” brag.

Highland Park and LSU’s campus are my favorites.

Baton Rouge has absolutely nothing.
There is a paved trail that goes along Ward Creek from Top golf to Bluebonnet at the mall and picks up again at OLOL children’s hospital to Perkins Road Park along Dawson Creek all of the way to the Dept of Wild Life and Fisheries.

Pheidippides who carried the news of victory to Athens. After running the roughly 26-mile distance, he famously declared "Rejoice, we have won!" before collapsing and dying from exhaustion.

Running is bad for your health.

He ran into the square in Athens and screamed “Nike”.

He ran 25 miles. The last mile of the current marathon was added to the Olympics later by the Queen of England so it would finish in front of the royal residence.

People talk about the 25 miles he ran, mostly up the mountains to Athens…nobody ever talks about the 150 miles he ran from Athens to Sparta and back another 150 miles for a total of 300 miles in two days. And that was a few days before his marathon run. And he might have actually fought in the battle of marathon in between those two runs.

Day 1: 150 miles
Day 2: 150 miles
Day 3-4: Battle of Marathon
Day 5: 25 mile run to Athens/death

Most, if not all, larger cities aren't conducive for runners.
Are there no good areas to run around the LSU campus?

Lakes, downtown and various neighborhoods. Check out Varsity Sports' website. There are several group runs throughout the week and Jenny posts the routes every Sunday.

From All in the Family:

Archie: "I hate that park. If you walk, you get mugged. If you run, the cops chase you."

Meathead: "Why don't you skip?"

Archie: "Then the figs are all over you ..."

Let's not talk about that. Let's just say, I didn't win races, but I did finish them. Most I run these days is a few miles once a week.

Trail Running
It's quiet, beautiful, safe, you're not going to be run over by an Altima driver on her phone, and you're not breathing in exhaust fumes.
Frenchtown Road Park Trails, Port Hudson Trails are just a few.

Varsity Sports runs different routes daily. Check the calendar for the meeting location and a map of the route.

Perkins Road Park at Kenilworth is good. Can run all through Kenilworth and Magnolia Woods on one side, or take the trail behind Pennington and run through Pollard which connects to Rouzan which connects to Southdowns which connects to the lakes. Lots of options through all those neighborhoods.
