4th worst and we still beat out New Orleans and Shreveport
I think housing is pretty screwed up right now in many markets. It's terrible in Florida right now too. You have a lot of people like me sitting on 2.3% mortgages that aren't willing to give that up.
Overall, Louisiana's economy is actually doing pretty well right now.

If we're being honest, there's not a single metric besides food that would draw people to come live here. Most of us are here because we were born here.

Lake Charles has to be pretty good, jobs are booming here

Yeah that's the boat I'm in. I can afford a bigger house now (only in 950 sf) but damnit I'm not paying 5+% in interest when I can make do wirh this one.

We are luckily in a house we like, but had discussed downsizing since our kids are gone now, but it's actually cheaper for us to stay here

Yeah but there’s microclimates all over BR that don’t reflect this.

Now do Lafayette!
Lafayette is sitting on a mountain of 60 day or more lates and a lot of upcoming foreclosures

Rental market is great
Houses not so much. They are predicting a 4% decrease in values and we are already way down from the Covid 2021-22 peak

It's kind of inevitable. Houses are priced for 3% rates but they are 6.5%. When the median household income can't afford median home prices at current rates the prices are going to come down eventually.

The Lafayette and LC area markets will blow up with Space X. Probably a trickle down effect for other parts of the state as well.

All that money going to football. Homeless but the team is good.

Zillow sucks for home valuation.

Sounds like a great place to get another out of state property to watch LSU beat Ole Miss belt to arse every other year in Tiger Stadium.
Thanks for highlighting the buying opportunity.
