Texas has way higher property taxes
The state doesn't have property taxes. frick your simplistic, oft repeated bullshite about "Texas" property taxes.
quote:
The Texas Legislature does not set the tax amount of your local taxes. Your property tax burden is determined by your locally elected officials.
You can literally live across the street from your neighbor and have property taxes that are 30% lower than his in most metro areas, but especially Houston.

this is what happens when the low/no income segment of a city's population becomes a larger and larger percentage.
This is why property tax related items (library, CATS, etc) should only be allowed to be voted on by property owners and not leeches/renters.

I live in Baton Rouge, and my property tax has only gone up 5% in the last 5 years. My insurance has gone up 22.7% in that time, though.

Landry wants Louisiana to compete with Texas and Florida. We are creeping towards no state income tax but higher property taxes as a result.
before landry income and property taxes went up.
I didnt vote for landry, but the other option was they both go up vs one going down.
And landry and the republicans want to cap the income tax rate so they cant come back in a just raise it.

No one else seems to notice that. I stopped at that Racetrack around 9 PM for gas a month ago. The customers in there looked like the Racetrack on Siegen Lane.
The Racetrack on Siegen Lane is in St. George.

I was talking about the Racetrack on Jones Creek and George O'neal.
Didn't realize Siegen Racetrack was in St. George.

we should lower the homestead exemption rate - the problem will sort itself out over night.

Not according to the map on the StG website. Looks like the only carve out along Siegen north of I-10 is the big church (Bethany?).
They did carve out (or more accurately BR annexed) Siegen Marketplace on the south side of the interstate.

Okay property taxes in Louisiana are some of the lowest in the USA.
Property taxes IN Texas a much higher just to clarify that

400/y + 500/y should not = 200/month increase. What's up with that?
Partly escrow deficiency from increased insurance last year. 2 straight $400 home insurance increases and the the property tax increase. Unless we see another big home insurance increase I would expect the monthly note to come back down

2 neighborhoods where I live the difference can range from 1.54% to almost 3.4% in Spring Texas.

Florida is trying to do away with property taxes.
